Just curious. I've heard some friends say that they'd drink tap water if it weren't for the metals in it or that they don't think tap water because they don't think it's clean enough. Some others don't care and just drink it straight from the tap. I personally don't mind.

How about you? What are your reasons behind not drinking tap water? Perhaps the area where you live has something to do with it?

Apparently the county (East Lothian) I live in has some of the best springs in the world (though, many places claim that)

Our tap water is the bomb.

I live near the largest cache of weapons-grade uranium in the world (Y-12 National Security Complex, Oak Ridge, TN) and you'd better believe that shit is in the ground water.

To answer the question, HELL NO.

I drink tap water, always have. Sometimes I use a Brita filter but its not a big worry. I actually work for my municipalities water utility now, and still have no reservations about drinking any of the water. Besides, they say most bottled water is just tap water anyway.

Sure, the stuff from the bathroom sink isn't that tasty, but the water from the kitchen tastes fine.  I almost never buy water these days.

Tap Water is fine. I also have a creek going through my yard though. The creek is clean and drinkable if you really hated tap water for some reason.

I live in the fifth largest city in Sweden, 20 minute walk from the inner circle that makes up "down town", and I need to get my tap water delivered from another area in town to get something that doesn't give me a dry mouth, heavings, stomach pains and "The Shits Mk II". The water company set their chemicals down and tested samples of it and found nothing. They never tested with humans.

However, my last place was a five minute walk up the road, same street name. That water was the greatest I had ever tasted. Sparkling clean immediately after pouring, and it stayed clean, and it tasted just as wonderfully. It is what helped me drop soda like the bad unhealthy and completely un-essential money-stealing habit it was in 2003.

I've always thought the idea of buying bottled water to be ridiculous. There's standards in the U.S. for tap water, its fine.

I'd normally never drink tap water, mostly because my refrigerator + water filter are steps away from the sink.

But of course in the summer I've been known to drink from the hose on occasion.

No, I use a filter. I live in Chicago. Tap water just doesn't taste right to me and also it always seems a tad too warm. So I pour it in the filter and put it in the refrigerator.

I grew up in a rural area with both a spring and well on property and it was damn tasty. I had a friend in the county whose groundwater was contaminated with sulfur, so I absolutely understand why they drank bottled stuff. After moving away from there I started filtering municipal water.

I actually lived in a place that had municipal tap water that tasted almost as good as the spring water I grew up on. It was rated as some of the best  in the country and no filter was required. It didn't stop my roommate from being a wasteful idiot and buying a 24-packs of 20 oz bottled water every week. At least my friend with the contaminated water was smart enough to buy 5 gallons at a time in reusable containers. I drank one once when our building was doing maintenance on the plumbing. It tasted like our tap water that had been sitting out for a few days. He would throw the bottles out with mixed trash from his bedroom because he couldn't be bothered to put them in the recycling in the kitchen. I just don't understand some people.

I have lived the the country my entire life, and we have delicious well water from a river that runs through a cave system under our house. It's better then any bottled water crap. However, the two years I lived in the city when I went to college I couldn't drink the city water. It was so revolting. It tasted like metal and chemicals, and smelt terrible. I had to get one of those brita filter jugs and keep it in my fridge just to stand the stuff.

I usually prefer evian, but tap water is okay.
It's that bullshit Brita water that I can't stand. Totally neuters the taste of the water, it becomes bitter as shit. Also any brand of water that is just filtered tap water, because I can tell, Dasani for example tastes exactly like water from my brita filter (as in horribly disgusting).

I don't, but I should.  Water here is really clean.

Yet I still buy water refills for those 18L bottles for my water cooler.  I think the bottles are starting to take on a greenish tint.

Although my tapwater is perfectly drinkable, I only use it to make tea or to cook rice/pasta in it. I drink bottled water exclusively. Sheer decadence!

Thats not healthy. I'm pretty sure all that filtering shit will mess up your immunities.
