Sometimes for me I enjoy public transit, because I don't have to worry about the stresses involved in driving. I enjoy the view, it's sort of a time of relaxation and reflection for me. What about the rest of you Giant Bombers?
Do you enjoy taking public transit?
I like taking public transport. People always complain to me about how much they dislike commuting, and I am always like "yeah, I hate that too", but secretly I love it. I love listening to music/podcasts on a long journey. I love observing people and then trying to avoid eye contact. I love when the tube is super jam packed and you have to squeeze up to a cute girl in the carriage.
If I had the option I might, but right now my work schedule is all over the map and I commute from a town to a city. Pretty much the only public transportation I've been on is a school bus, and I'm not sure that even counts.@49th said:

That works the other way around too though, You could end up squished on a large man who hasn't showered in weeks :P
I loved using public transportation while in undergrad at CU. One of the benefits to living in a hippie city like Boulder is a fantastic public transportation system that was integrated cleanly into nearby Denver's network.
Public transportation in Philadelphia, where I live now? Not so great...
Hell, I wish we had decent public transit because I would love it. I live in Vermont and you're pretty much shit out of luck if you don't own your own car. I'd love if more money was put into public transportation in the US in general, but that hasn't looked very likely lately.
My city's public transportation (buses) wins awards, yet I've never used it. Everything I needed before I was old enough drive myself was in walking/biking distance.
From the few times that I've used the Metro service in Houston, I've enjoyed it.
Of course, now that I'm going to college I'm going to have to ride a few hours everyday, so my opinion might change.

I completely enjoy the sensation of driving. Being in control of where I'm going.
I live in Kentucky where public transit is pretty non existent, otherwise I'd use it all the time. Went to NYC for vacation a few months back and loved how the subway could get you pretty much anywhere.

Paying for a car, gas, parking and everything else just isn't worth it.
You're probably right, but it ends up being on of those things where paying for it is just a part of life. Kind of how I'd imagine being a chick is, what with the price of leg razors and tampons.
Honestly, I haven't felt that way ever since I started driving. It's always stop and go. Maybe if I used highways more or had a better car I'd feel better about it.@FrankCanada97 said:

@DrX25You should look into the bike-sharing program that city has. It's pretty extensive and could get you anywhere.Oh god don't tell me that, I'm moving there next week and I have no carPublic transit in Montreal ranges from good to confusing.
I like my public transit because to get to my university it takes around 15 minutes although there is the odd time that it never shows up, now I take a bus line called the Viva which takes longer for me to get to the stop but it runs like clockwork every 15 minutes. The only thing I dislike is seeing the scum bags on the bus that don't pay, talk too loud on there cell phones about how they totally tricked some drunk girl into doing it with them and look like they did drugs in high school multiple times a day.
Well, the buses are slow and infrequent. The seats are damp. The floors are sticky. There's vomit sloshing in the corner. There's a crack head in the opposite corner. The old lady next to you who's more then likely pissed herself whilst talking to you about her (dead) cat won't shut up and at the back of the bus/train, are two tracksuit cladded scumbags who's playing some shitty techno shit on their phone very loudly whilst occasionally uttering words like "fag" and "fuck". Also, almost everyone has a sour look on their face as they try to ignore their surroundings by burying their heads into an iPod/phone/book. All of this as a beer can veers left to right and left again every time the vehicle takes a corner.
Irish transportation in a nutshell. So, never.
I live in a relatively small town. We barely have buses. You'd need to walk a mile or two to the nearest stop anyway. Cars, they're what America is made for.
I live in the country so I have never had to use it. Unless you count the School bus back when I was still in School.
Taking "The T" into Boston sucks in the mornings. It's alright on the weekends/after the morning commute, but it can also be really slow sometimes.
I live in a small city that borders Chicago. I can walk to downtown in my small city in about 10 minutes. There's a great movie theater, bars, restaurants, etc. I live three blocks from two grocery stores. I live two blocks from a train that can get me to the heart of Chicago's downtown in 40 minutes or 30 minutes if the express is running. If I drove, it'd take about the same amount of time, or possibly longer with traffic, and would cost much more. I can sit on the train and read, listen to podcasts, play games, etc.
I no longer have a car as a result. I became a Zipcar member for the occasional local trip and rent a car if I'm going somewhere for a weekend. If I need to get somewhere quickly I'll take a cab. I spend much less than I would owning a car and I don't have to think about insurance, parking, maintenance, etc. I'll get another one someday, but public transportation works out much better for me with my current lifestyle and situation.

I grew up in the middle of nowhere and felt the same way driving there and I still do when I go back. There is no public transportation or traffic or lights or anything. It feels great to drive. I've lived in several major cities since then and I hate driving anywhere near them. That feeling of being in control is overwhelmed by not being able to get anywhere quickly and easily because of traffic, stopping every block or two at lights and stop signs, keeping a constant eye out for infinitely more hazards and distractions, etc. There's no enjoyment in that sort of driving for me.
