It seems most of the people I know hate cops because they think they don't do anything or had a bad experience with them in the past, crashing a loud party or something of that nature. Personally I have had only one experience with a police officer and it was very pleasant, I was leaving a party and he asked if I was alright and I said ya and he didn't bother me. What about you guys, what are your feelings towards cops?
Do you hate cops?
Depends on the region I guess... I haven't had any interaction with the cops in the US, but based on what I've heard they seem to be functional, so I respect that. In some parts of the world though, they're just thugs in uniforms, and I don't have any respect for those types... In fact I wish I could do bad things to them...
I have no problem with cops. I'm very grateful for what they do. That is, when they do what they're supposed to be doing. Of course there are some bad ones out there, and some with no sympathy whatsoever.
I do not hate cops. They provide a valuable and necessary service to us that is all too often met without thanks, but instead abuse. If you're innocent, you have no reason to hate cops.
" I do not hate cops. They provide a valuable and necessary service to us that is all too often met without thanks, but instead abuse. If you're innocent, you have no reason to hate cops. "This, gentlemen.
Hate is a strong word. I really dislike people who abuse their power though and there are plenty of cops who do that. So i dislike those. And just the ones that give you attitude because they know you can't say anything back or you'll get a ticket or whatever. And i'm not talking about when you've comitted 3 murders in a row, i'm just talking about... jaywalking and they get all high and mighty on your ass. That can definetly frustrate me.
Edit: Oh, and the people that think you don't have anything to fear from the cops if you haven't done anthing "wrong" are incredibly ignorant.
No i don't hate the cops. Hopefully they keep the stab-people away from me. :/
With that said. 'We live in an age when pizza gets to your home before the police.'
What do you guys think Jeff's opinion on cops is? He seems like a real rebel and even said in various Harmonix interviews he was convicted.
" i dont think hate would be the word i choose. i would dislike to interact with them at any point in time for any reason but i feel that their presence is necessary other wise shit would be fucked "couldnt have said it any better
shit would be hella fucked !
Not all cops are bad thus I don't hate all cops but not all cops are good thus I don't like all cops. Each individual is different and I try my best to not generalize despite having more unpleasant experiences with police than pleasant. And no if your innocent you can still hate some cops. Particularly those that abuse their power or break the very law they are supposed to uphold, there is nothing crazy or revolutionary about that idea I can assure you.
This and more over the cops in my country cause they only tend to catch small traffic violations for free lunch and completely fail when the real job comes in like the hostage crisis. Makes them completely useless. X(" I hate useless cops. "
I don't like being around anyone with a gun.
I don't like being around shooting ranges. I don't like being around gangsters. I don't like being around hunters. And I don't like being around cops.
Also, one of the things I dislike about how the cops is how corruption is handled. It's bullshit that corruption investigations are held by other cops. Absolute bullshit. Do you know that most major police corruption scandals happen because private detectives blow the whistle, as opposed to Internal Affairs actually doing anything? Also, similar to soldiers, cop culture basically supports this idea of a "brotherhood", which just leads the officers to sticking behind their partners and co-workers no matter what they are accused of doing. Just look at what happens when a cop accidentally shoots someone, as opposed to someone else! I think they should be held to a higher standard than the rest of us, simply because they are there to enforce the law.
Man, I really just hate guns. Which is crazy because I live in the South and totally believe that people should have a right to own and carry them. I just don't want to be anywhere near these people.
Normally I'm happy to see a cop but I wish they'd use some common sense every now and then. I was out with some friends in London when things kicked off and this random guy punched my friend in the face, breaking her nose. I figured I was justified in returning the favour so punched him back and then pinned him to the floor with the help of a buddy. When the police showed up, they refused to listen to any one, including the bouncers, and proceeded to cuff both of us. Eventually they saw reason and let us go, but man...
No, why would I? Cops in my country are perfectly fine for the most part. There's always one asshole that does something bad, but that's like everything. Everywhere there are good people and assholes.

"Things like this grind my gears. The speed limit is there for a reason, whether you like it or not. 10 or 100 kmph, if you're going over it, it's your fault. It's really easy to expect the law to be lenient with you, but then if you get run over by a car that was going 10 kmph over the speed limit...I'll post this cause in this thread it needs it. i like cops when they are catching rapists killers etc. but when they bust up a party or pull me over for goin 10 over the speed limit the song above applies "
"People who hate cops are usally doing something illgeal or stupid and get busted for it. I have a few good friends which are cops and they are just fine."
Bullshit. The people who really hate cops are the ones who have been abused by the corrupt ones that are out there.
Example:
A friend of mine was house-sitting for someone out of town. This house was on a well traveled but semi-country road. My friend left the house late at night and as soon as he pulled out of the gravel driveway two cops stopped him. They came up to him making jokes about how "he'd been doin' some off-roading", accusing him a drunk driving. When it became clear to the cops that they had been mistaken they got him out of his car and preceded to tear his car apart "looking for drugs". When the cops found no drugs, one of the cops grabbed a bag with some random junk in it from my friends car. The cop held the bag in front of his face and pointed at some dirt in the bottom of the bag and said, "Looks like we've found some marijuana here". When my friend tried to object the cop got really pissed talking about how he'd been on the force for 15 years and he knew what dope looked like. With the threat of what they could do to him in place the cops then told him that they had all of his information and that if he didn't give them info on any drug users and dealers that he knew about that they would fuck him up in all kinds of ways. They then gave him a number and told him that he needed to call it the next day. My friend was so freaked out he moved out of the area soon after.
Being a cop is a position with huge responsibilities and a lot of good can be done for people. They were originally suppose to be called "Peace Officers" instead of today's police state friendly "Law Enforcement". But the job also attracts men searching for power and, just like politicians, that power will corrupt and it will be abused. You never know when you'll come across some roid-raging, low IQ, drug-dealing narc having a bad day, and I'd imagine getting tazed until you die of a heart attack is no fun at all.
So some cops are good and some are bad. Most (but not all) of those I've come across have been cool, and luckily I've never had the experience my friend did. But many have and that's a shame.
I've had a run in once, and it was my own fault, every other time they've been fine, doing their job, there are a few rough people in my home town area, and the presence of the police sends them in doors for the fear of being caught doing drugs or under age drinking and thus I like them.
I don't hate cops and Respect them for what they contribute and do to safeguard our society, however there's no denying that as in any profession there's rotten apples who give all cops a bad name, for those rotten ones I have no respect at all for abusing their power on mostly innocent people.
All you have to do is imagine yourself in their shoes and figure out whether you hate them or not.
Imagine stopping someone for a traffic violation and coming up to his window only for him to spray you with bullets.
There are many more examples like this where you gain immense respect for what cops do (if cops weren't around, who's to stop you from getting mugged every day of the week,), but there's also some of dirty cops out there with video footage to prove it. But the good definitely outweigh the bad.
I really respect cops, I think they have a tough job and that they do it well. I can only really speak for the cops in NZ, here they're generally good guys who are just out to enforce the law and they do it with integrity. I'm sure there are still a few who are a little rough around the edges but overall the cops in NZ are a good lot.
I think when you start to disrespect the Police you are only adding to the negativity of society and adding to the fuel which other people have of dislike or even hate for them when they find out that you don't like them for whatever reason. Again I can only speak for NZ where the Police really do a good job. I do realise that in other countries things can be a bit more twisted, from what I've seen from the news etc. but I'm not one for disliking the Police just because it's "cool".
Some coppers are nice but as an institution they're racist, violent, corrupt and incompetent . That's in the UK anyway, never experienced them anywhere else.
It's not like I hate cops. I just don't like their judgement. For example, a couple years back I get arrested and charged for domestic violence for pushing my ex-girlfriend off of me after she went crazy on me because she thought I had some chic over (we were broken up at the time). Even though I had scratches and bruises on me, they decided to arrest me because she's the one that called the cops because I touched her.
Well, in the end, because of the cops poor judgement, it cost me $1000 in fines and $1600 in mens battering classes.
