Do You Keep Up With World News?
Nope. Outside of sports, I don't watch any current events on TV. I get all my news via hearsay, meaning other people tell me what's going on.
I used to watch the local Philly/and world news daily. One morning I was watching the morning show and they were doing a piece on the antioxidants in blueberries which was interesting to me. They broke from the story for a important news flash. The news flash was some dude carrying the burial dress for Anna Nicole Smith through an airport. Seriousily the broke to show some guy carrying the dress through the airport. Wtf? Is this whats important to Americans or people in general? Maybe so. Since then I have not watch the news other than the tsunami tragedy and a few world changing events. Although I read video game, football, and news on music daily I expect the world news to be real world important news not someone carrying the dress of druggie through an airport. So no I don't watch world news unless it's a real event.
I don't watch local news because it's laughably bad. I sometimes read the national news but I don't consider it to be of that great a quality. I read newspapers from other countries to get my world news. When you get it from other countries you don't get the same spin that domestic news producers place on it.
Yes and no. My homepage is set to Google News, so every time I open my browser, I get a quick summary of what's happening here and there. I don't actively keep up, though.
It is funny seeing the "related articles" below an article, though, and seeing how every other news outlet puts their spin on the same event.
Not really, when you're reading/watching news you're usually reading/watching stuff that you either doesn't effect you, or you can't change. At least most of the time. Why get worked up? And if that's not reason enough, then the fact that most of it is controlled by the government is, at least here in Serbia.
I will occasionally visit Al Jazeera's English stream and spend a little time updating myself on global events.
My answer is really between A and B. I don't seek out the news every single day but I check it regularly and will still watch/read content about current events even if they don't directly affect me or instantly pique my interests. To a certain extent you can't help but hear some news and it's not always the cheeriest stuff, but I don't think I'd be happy with myself if I knew I was being wilfully ignorant about current events.
no, i usually get the story from other people.
in other news, the karadashian sisters have a little scandal of child labor for their clothing line. i look at magazines because i work at a grocery store and right by the cash registers are the magazines. i just laugh at all the covers because it's just things that normal people do are ok, but celebrities it gets huge. probably half the things that are made in china are from child labor.
I try. I'm a bit between B & C because I haven't found an outlet that really flows well with me. While I'm far more informed than most of the people around me, I still wouldn't consider myself "in the loop." I also tend to read stuff that's less relevant to myself first. For example, I know far more about the Oslo massacre earlier this year than the Scott Walker issue in Wisconsin despite me being a student at UW-Madison.
I watch a lot of cable news and spend quite a bit of time going through news.google.com .It's more interesting to me than the latest drivel on that Kardashian waste of flesh or Lohan's lastest crackpot escapade. People need to stop caring about those over-inflated egos so they stop getting media attention.
Between A and B myself, but for voting on this poll I'll say A as I don't just watch news relevant to only me and my interests.
Don't watch the news, but I make sure to check news websites for local stuff and BBC News for everything else because I don't like spin or bias in my news.
The only news I get is from the newspapers in the breakroom at work. Other than that, I don't really watch the news.
