I leave on my PC's at work and home. Just an old habit. Also, I use remote access so I never know when I'll need it so it's always on. Anyone else crazy like me?

Yes. I see no reason to turn it off unless I'm opening it up or it's just in need of a restart.

Used to leave it on, since I got my new fan though it's way too loud for my bedroom. But I have my laptop out in the kitchen and I have that one on all the time.

Always running since it also acts as my media player (no TV) and I can't sleep without something playing.

I turn it off at night. My computer doesn't seem to run as nicely if it's on for a few days at a time without a restart, so I just turn it off when I go to sleep and put it on when I wake up.

Yes, out of bad habit, even though I should since I'm wasting a lot of electricity.

I don't normally turn off my work pc, because it is not in my room. But my gaming PC is in my room and is like a space heater so I normally at least put it to sleep when I go to bed.

I like saving money, I have an OCD for letting things waste electricity so I turn my stuff off (except my microphone amp, because the tube takes forever to warm up hot enough for use) or gather dust (I sell old gear and instruments quickly once I deem the stuff unecessary). I also like doing a little something for the environment, we'd be better off if businesses and private users would turn off what doesn't need to run overnight or over weekends. You can spare 3-5 minutes of boot-times.

On. But waking up sometimes at 2am with the pc fan cranking for no apparent reason can get pretty annoying.

This makes me feel extra bad for leaving it on while I'm away in Korea for weeks at a time. In my defense tho, I live alone and part of why I go is for work and sometimes I need to access files on my system so remote desktop is the only way I can do that short of giving someone my keys and my passwords. I wonder how much I'd save on a monthly bill if I started leaving my PC off. . . I do turn off my monitors and it does go into a sort of standby mode.

off, my comp only takes about 20 sec to turn on. There's no reason for it to be on 24/7 and waste electricity. My work comp, is on 24/7 though in case I need to access files from it at home.

Yes, all the time. I'm not sure if it's causing any problems, even though I've got tons of problems with my computer (I believe it's more due to it being a piece of crap).

I leave my PC DVR on while I'm at work but I usually remember to shut it off before I go to sleep. Although I tend to leave it on from Friday to Sunday night.

I don't. I even got the power strip at a close enough reach to shut the power going into the system altogether. Even hit the power button just to drain what's left in the comp.

I used to have this habit of turning off my PC when I wasn't using it (mostly because my old computer's power supply couldn't handle the computer on all the time). When I got a new computer, I stuck to that habit until earlier this year when I realized "Hey, my computer can handle being on all the time". And now I leave it on unless I'm asleep (since it's in my bedroom).

Leaving your computer on feels like global warming. Some say it's good some say it's bad. I don't trust either because they're all funded by powerful lobby groups, so I leave my computer in a zombie like un-death so it's neither on or off!

I have no reason to leave it on unless I'm using it at the moment. Waste of electricity, fans don't last forever and neither do the more delicate components.

YOU NEED TO TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER WHEN NOT IN USE.

STANDBY/SLEEP IS NOT THE SAME AS TURNING IT OFF.

Obviously left on overnight on sleep or whatever won't do any harm, but you have to kill the power completely at some point, all computer parts are perishable. I really dislike how it appears to no longer be standard practice to turn off your system when not in use.

Of course, servers and torrent people are a different story.

No way! I need to pay the bills and all hardware has limited life - I think it´s stupid to use it up by leaving it on just because. Also it´s not the worst idea to save the remains of enviroment.

Yes, it doesn't really consume much power, so the effect on the electricity bill is minimal.
