So I'm starting to get bored of T-Shirts, it's all i have in my wardrobe. I don't like Polo shirts and no way am I going to wear a vest shirt, so I was thinking of maybe trying just a normal shirt. The thing is IO don't want to look all formal, just causal, does anybody here just wear shirts for everyday wear?

I wear dress shirts almost every day. Put on a well fitting pair of jeans, nice dress shirt, then put that vast t-shirt wardrobe to use as undershirts. That way you have a lot of cool options beyond just a white shirt underneath to go with everything.

I wear T-shirts that have the three buttons like Polos (so they look less casual) and also wear Polos.  I have regular t-shirts but that's for when I'm not going to be in public and my other, nicer shirts are dirty.

I never got polo shirts. They've always looked pretty horrible to me. As for shirts, your standard chequered shirts that you can get in most clothiers ought to fit the bill. Of course, you can't beat a a good dress shirt too. Combine that with a a good, well-fitted blazer you can look smart yet casual. But what sort of clothes suits you depends on your build. So experiment.

@Hizang: Nothing formal about a shirt, I wear shirts almost every day. As long as you don't button the collar you still look relaxed. In summer you can even roll up your sleeves a bit for an extra casual look.

You mean like a long sleeved shirt? Around here, it's so hot that almost everyone wears a t-shirt or polo, or even sleeveless.
So I guess I'm just thinking: A shirt as opposed to what? We tend to just call t-shirts "shirts". lol

He's talking about t-shirts vs. button up shirts guys, it ain't that complicated.

And @OP yes, you can wear button ups without looking like you're trying to be formal, just make sure they're comfortable.

Yeah, I wear shirts and t-shirts. You don't have to buy dress shirts, just buy some simple button-downs like Chaps, Timberland, etc. Plaids or simple (not shiny) solids are pretty informal if that's what you're going for.

EDIT: Oh, and if you're going for informal, don't button all the way up. Just leave 2-3 of the top buttons undone and just wear a white t-shirt underneath. Or no undershirt, if you're into that.

There are some fine kinda casual button-up shirts you can wear. I have a couple, although I live in Arizona, so I rarely wear anything but a T-Shirt on my chest when I go out.

Usually if a shirt has two front pockets, and occasionally if the collar is kind of smaller than normal, it's a more casual shirt meant to have the top button unbuttoned.

Alrighty then, I figured as much. It was just interesting to me that he would call those normal shirts. To me, a t-shirt is a normal shirt. But yeah, anyways, button-up shirts can be casual. When I wear those, I usually just avoid buttoning the collar. It makes me feel less formal.

EDIT: @Red: Same here, it's hot as hell outside. T-shirts are the way to go.

Where do you live that shirt does not mean "any general article of clothing that you wear on your upper body" and instead has some distinct meaning unique to a certain type of shirt?

Like, what do you say when you want to refer to all shirts in a general sense? Torso pants?
