I've mashed together two songs here and I can't decide if it works or not. I've played it better than this (Its 1:30 AM, cut me some slack), and I need a pop filter on my mic, but I'm really just wondering if you guys think this sounds like a naturally flowing single piece of music, flaws in recording aside. If you do know either song, just try to pretend that you don't.

And Christ aren't I demanding this morning...

Thanks guys :)

EDIT: oh yes, the reason I'm doing this now is that I'm playing somewhere tomorrow and am conflicted about whether to play the original song or the combined version.

Song = here

@nintendoeats:
I spent about 10 minutes trying to figure out how this sounded like Subterranean Homesick Blues until I realized that it's the Radiohead song.  Anyways, I think the combination makes it sound a lot more sullen than either of its components, and I can't really say that I like it, but that doesn't mean that its bad.  Rock on.

@nintendoeats: It kinda devolves into a mess in segments. It works in some portions but I'm not sure that it's fully realized yet. (Just my two cents though)

@EvilTwin:  The image that I have in my mind of your "oh Jesus Christ that's what it is" moment cannot possibly be as entertaining as the real thing :)

Hmm, thanks I suppose. I'm still not really sure what to do then. I'll probably just stick to the original. That way nobody in the audience will have any way at all to relate to it, which is always nice.

@beej: So your saying "no, it does not sound natural." This is the type of thing that I need to hear.

I suppose this would work better as a proper full version with some electric guitar during the Radiohead part, differentiating it without getting messy. Obviously that wouldn't work on stage (causer there is only one of me), but I might be able to turn it into a recording exercise.

Far more entertaining I'm afraid.  :)

But don't take my criticism too seriously.  I'm not exactly a musical connoisseur.

Well the Radiohead part doesn't start until a couple minutes in...

Yes, but originals are hard and usually not as good as you think they are. In the meantime, you have to play something actually good for the audience.

Rest assured I'm working on it.

Well then, next time do it when your not tired. Not a lot of people want to listen to crap made without much effort put in it.

I always skipped over this track on OK Computer so I don't know if its a cover. Regardless, you've got a decent sound. Try and project your voice more. We already have tons of Folk-y singers with whisper voices, set yourself apart from the pack, bro!

Just a side thing.

the reason for that would be that most folk musicians (including me) Have horrible singing voices :)
