Drew is the real MVP - seriously, he has really stepped up to the plate in the last few years and is quickly becoming my favorite personality at Giantbomb.

I am really enjoying all of the video content that he is a part of - and he demonstrated a commanding yet relaxed presence at Pax South. This guy was born to be a media personality.

Mmmsure. I think this falls in line towards people heaping on the praise a little too thick towards the guys but yeah, Drew's cool.

Agreed, I always forget that Drew has been there not since the very start but damn near it and I love how he is just always been in the background... Drew for President!

While I agree with your gushingly positive assessment of Drew, your analogy is an odd choice. Why not Drew is to Jeff as Tim Duncan was to David Robinson.

And then the only conclusion that remains is that Dan must be Dennis Rodman.

All I'm saying is that the Title of this thread is not worded correctly.

As someone that just read a Jordan and a Phil Jackson book, I disagree.

Jordan came into the league dominant. Drew built his way up slowly in the industry. He's more of a Jimmy Butler.

Jeff is more Popovich, grizzled and grouchy with a sense of humor.

So maybe Jimmy gets traded to the Spurs, that's my scientific analogy while I watch this Bulls pregame in a bit.

Because Jeff wanted to make sure Carmelo represented New York in the All-Star game since it was being played at the Garden, and the team's season is a disaster and a meaningless All-Star game was actually more important than a regular-season game.

I thought everyone knew this is why Jeff made that call?

As a hypothetical, angry New York Knicks fan who is trying to emulate the kind of outrage being expressed by actual New York Knicks fans, I was just trying to address the most pertinent issues that is current afflicting my Knicks team and I was hoping that Jeff himself being the head honcho of Giant Bomb dot com and the President of Basketball Operations of the New York Knicks would man up and address said issues himself.

Now, to give Jeff credit, he didn't explicitly say that this season was a total disaster and that Carmelo's participation in the All-Star game as the ambassador of New York was meaningless. However, he sure likes to send out passive-aggressive messages about his own team's performance on Twitter. Jeff should probably stick to complaining about wrestling results and stop tweeting about our horrible Knicks team.

Lastly, why is Bargnani still on the roster? Dammit, Jeff!

P.S. I'm actually a Bulls fan.

EDIT: Drew is also a billionaire now.

I think my favorite thing Drew has ever said was "Im dressed like a speedbumb!" when Jeff was talking about the dangers of driving in a trick or treater infested neighborhood.

Drew is hilarious.

I've been hammering the "Drew is awesome" drum for a long time, but yeah, he's the best. He's been part of or has come up with a lot of the best premium content.

It still boggles my mind to think he was just supposed to be another intern. They had a few of them go through back in the early days.

Perhaps Tony Parker would've been the pick. From benched during playoff games to Finals MVP.

What about Drew as being Erik Spoelstra? Erik Spoelstra started out as video coordinator for the Heats in 1995 and made his way up to coaching the Heats to 4 NBA finals and 2 nba championships?

@ben_h:

I find the "origin" story of Drew at GB really interesting/amazing. Guy was originally just an intern whose main thing was supposed to be packaging t-shirts and doing some shady business involving Anime Vice. At some point the fact that he can edit video comes into play and he becomes Vinny's assistant down in the basement. Que random appearances on videos for a while before they announce that his internship had run up so they decided to hire him. But yeah I think a lot of people who weren't around back near the start are generally really surprised whenever it gets mentioned Drew was initially just an intern for Whiskey Media.

One of my favorite early videos with Drew in it was a mailbag where the someone sent in a bunch of customized koozies that had the guys name on them. If i'm remembering right there was one for Jeff, Ryan, Vinny, Brad, Drew, and Dave. I remember Drew seeming really surprised and excited that he'd be included in a customized gift like that since at the time I think he may still have been an intern.

Well that video and the coca cola one.

@camelizer: The best part of the Drew story is that he was just a dude on craigslist.

@corevi: True. Its just crazy that a guy who has been such a key part of the site since close to the start came about in that way. Its been really cool watching how his role at GB has changed over the years from an almost strictly behind the scenes guy to one of the most seen.

This definitely isn't the most egregious example of that but yeah there are definitely some folks on the site who come off a little creepy/obsessed.

Edit: I think Drew is killing it, wish he had a little more to talk about during the 'what have you been playing' portion of the podcast but that a super minor complaint overall.
