Me after only a few hours with Final Fantasy XIII.
Me after only a few hours with Final Fantasy XIII.
A few days ago I started playing Final Fantasy XIII, and going in I knew that the game was going to have a lot of cut scenes where I just sit there watching them twiddling my thumbs until they were over.

Well, a day or so before I started playing the game I came across some dumbbells in an old pile of junk in the carport and as soon as I saw them I came up with the fancy idea of using them while I played the game. So now every time the game stops to do one of it's 3-4 minute cut scenes I pick up the dumb bells and do some curls and such while I watch it. This way I get a little bit of exercise and never get too tired out because the cut scenes are never long enough to get tired, and the gameplay breaks in between them let me rest in time for the next ones.

So I was curious if anyone else has done something similar to this before. Obviously you can only do this with certain games, but as I said, I was simply curious to know if anyone else has tried doing this before and thought I would write about it here and see what others had to say.

nope, i never thought about that. you can also get a crappy wii fit. i don't know if it will make you healthier or not. i just lift some weights and i'm about 8 months or so into working out. i do squats, curls, flies, shoulders, presses, pretty much all i do for about 45 minutes.  i think i have gotten some muscle.

That actually sounds like a good idea considering how long load screens can be.

This has honestly got to be the most pathetic attempt at honest exercise I've come across in a while haha. It's like getting up in the middle of your bucket of KFC to do pump out a couple of jumping jacks.

No, just.....no.

Just for the record mate, you want to get worn out and tired when you exercise. That's the entire point of it.

This is why I'm in the market for a good exercise bike.

I play console games while using an exercise bike all the time. Exercising can be boring but games can prevent that.

I would actually finish Persona 4 if I had one of those. I like running too much, though.

I actually plan on replaying that when I get a hold of a decent bike. Then I have all of my backlogged RPGs. I'll look like a Kenyan after two months.

I used to do push ups while waiting for new rounds to start in CS.

It never stuck though. I would only do it when something reminded me to do it. For instance: Arnold Schwarzenegger coming over to play fy_iceworld...which definitely happened...like every tuesday.

Better yet, use the exercise bike to power your PS2! How you go about doing that I'm not quite sure, I guess I'll leave that up to you.

That is such a crazy but awesome idea. I think I would actually get into shape if I had a setup like this.

I have some weights, a mat, and some grippers in my room so when I play wow I use those when I'm waiting for the dungeon finder or when I'm flying somewhere.

I've played my DS a couple of times while doing my bike, though usually I end up watching an episode of Firefly.
