Ok so with the new Zombieland now in theaters I was wondering what is the best horror comedy to date. My personal favorite would have to be Shaun of the Dead. However, I really want to see Army of Darkness and cannot seem to find it, or anyone who has it. But for right now Shaun of the Dead is my favorite, so what is everyone else's?
Favorite horror comedy
" @gingertastic_10 said:" Shaun of the Dead 100% "Without a doubt. Never got to see Zombieland, so I'll go with this man's answer. "
" I thought Scary Movie 1 was pretty great, but they got tiresome, quickly. But yeah, Shaun of the Dead is definitely the best. "You know I never quite saw any Scary Movie as a horror comedy but just a comedy parodying horror movies. Not a big difference but I just never saw it as having much horror with it.
Scream, Evil Dead 2 , Shaun of the dead, ZombieLand (just saw it and seriously that Cameo was hilarious)
"Zombieland overtook Shaun of The Dead the minute they introduced a certain B.M .. comedy gold. "
Completely agree with you.
Is Young Frankenstein considered horror-comedy or just a comedy set in a traditional horror setting? That would be my first choice. After that, there are the above mentions Evil Deads and Shaun stuff. I also liked Re-Animator, Night of the Comet (mall girls vs zombies!), Tremors, Eight-Legged Freaks, The Frighteners, and Bubba Ho-tep (Elvis vs zombies!). And, again, I'm not too sure they count, but growing up I loved the Abbott and Costello meets...movies. Whether it was the mummy or the wolfman or whoever. They used to crack me up.
Shawn of the Dead.
Zombieland doesn't have any speck of the 'horror' part in 'horror comedy'. I enjoyed it a lot but it felt like it was missing that crucial element.
But I might be missing the point.
Wow, I had forgotten that this genre was so awesome.
Shaun of the Dead
Zombieland
Haven't seen the Bruce Campbell movies, shame on me
Slither (SEE THIS MOVIE. SEE IT. DO IT)
Drag Me To Hell
annnnd
Young Frankenstein
are all such fantastic options. Thank you for reminding me, GB.
Hurm... Evil Dead?
I remember watching the 3rd one, and only recently found out it's a trilogy of sorts.
" Evil Dead 2 is just great and is in my top 5 movies. Army of Darkness is ironicly the one i find the most twisted. "Really, I have only seen Evil Dead (first one) and I didn't think things could much more twisted than someone getting raped by a tree.

" @Boom_goes_the_dynamite said:Yeah its a really low budget film, but still is pretty good. But of course this could all be because of Bruce Campbell." @damswedon said:Oh, man... I liked Zombieland a lot, but it doesn't have the quaint, low-key charm and general Britishness of Shaun of the Dead.
There are a lot of great horror comedies. Bubba Ho-Tep is great, The Frighteners is extremely underrated, and I really also liked Drag Me to Hell this year. Speaking of Raimi, the whole Evil Dead series is indisputably classic.
To me, though, none of these hold a candle to Shaun of the Dead.
The Host - Korean horror comedy that reminds me a lot of Shaun of the Dead.
I'm surprised The Host isn't in this thread more...
Quote from Wikipedia:
"
It was released on a record number of screens in South Korea on July 27, 2006 and broke box-office records throughout its domestic run. By the end of its run on November 8th, the film had been seen over 13 million times, making it the highest grossing South Korean film of all time."
