Favourite Pavement album?

I'm always amazed at how they could just toss out all of these amazing songs seemingly effortlessly. I guess since so many of them never ended up on an album, it really was just an effortless thing for them. My favorite album is probably Crooked Rain, favorite song is either Gold Soundz or Frontwards.

They're all really good, but Terror Twilight is the only one I've never gotten into. I was tempted to vote for Slanted and Enchanted since I'm a sucker for Zurich is Stained, but I went with Crooked Rain since I think it's the overall best. Any album is an acceptable answer though, and if you count extended/reissue/B-sides whatevers, it'd be even tougher to choose.

Terror Twilight was the one that struck me as more a complete article with less filler, although the hits aren't as massive.

Slanted & Enchanted and since I'm officially the king of the internet that is actually the only right answer :)

Crooked Rain for me, though I am very partial to Brighten the corners.

Hint: the true answer is American Water.

Crooked Rain is my first Pavement album so thats my answer. Saw them live at a festival a couple years ago and they were pretty good, but Malkimus seemed to not be enjoying himself too much, still was a great set.

Wowee Zowee.

Crooked Rain is the only answer.

Gold Soundz is the best song.

Their musicianship was better with Crooked Rain (they could barely play their instruments in 1992 - each track took many takes), but I still like Slanted and Enchanted better. Emerging forms are the strongest forms.

Crooked Rain is their best full listen, despite having their worst song ever on (Its Hit the Plane Down). Wowee Zowee is kind of a beautiful mess. The back end of Slanted isn't anywhere near as good as the front end. Brighten the Corners is a bit dull in parts. I never really got round to listening to Terror Twilight, but I always thought Major Leagues was one of their best songs.

Man, all this Pavement talk makes me want to get back into them again.

Slanted and Enchanted is the only one I've listened to and it's pretty damn good. I should check out the rest of their discography at some point.

I haven't listened to any of them in full for a good few years, but I seem to remember liking Slanted & Enchanted more than anything else.
