Tim Hortons has taken over a couple of Dunkin Donuts located around my work in Manhattan and was curious as to what you would recommended for a "Tim Horton's Virgin". Thanks!

Wow. Timmies makes it south of the border. The classic timmies coffee here is a "Double Double" with double cream and double sugar. In the summer their iced caps are great. Try the Timbits (doughnut holes), i think they come in 10's or 20's. If they have a Canadian Maple you should not pass that up. My favorite is the cinnamon roll. You want the "iced" version not the "glazed" one.

Well, you could try out the Timbits. I think I heard no donut shops in America sell those. I haven't been in a Tim Hortons in a long time, so not sure what else.  They have sandwiches, soups, bagels, donuts, muffins, Timbits, some other pasteries, and ofcourse Coffee! They have some tea but I'm sure you could find more variety in other coffee shops. When 'Roll up the rim' season comes about, then you can buy a coffee and get the chance to wins prizes! There was talk a couple years ago about them taking away 'roll up the rim' but I'm not sure if they actually did it.

But yeah, try some Timbits. It's a pretty plain coffee shop, so nothing really out of the ordinary that I could suggest for you to try.

I'm not really a donut guy, so no recommendations there. But I think the best thing at tim hortons is just the coffee.

I'll give the Timbits a shot wondering if they are similar to "Munchkins" that Dunkin Donuts sold. Will give their coffee a chance as well being a fan of "coffee" and not 14 dollar drinks from Starbucks (Never been in one in my life or tasted their stuff) however will wait a few days for the crowds to go down (they are doing free coffee for their openings).

Tim's > Dunkins and that's not because I'm Canadian eh. I've been to too many Dunkin Donuts (Not to mention that the slogan is stoopid) that had horrible coffee or donuts. Try the timbits and the Iced Coffee...

Hmmm... Iced coffee.

It will be interesting to see how they make out in a new market. Here in Canada they are an institution so no one really questions their coffee. Personally I don't drink it but I lived in Seattle for 2 years and became a coffee snob so ymmv.

ah so you can do double double with milk instead of cream, excellent. Not into half/half or cream. I think I may do that by the end of the week. Searched their site and menu 20 assorted timbits and a doubledouble with milk sounds good. Will try the Iced Capp as well.

I'm not technically Canadian, but a few of my Canadian friends declared me an honorary Canadian when I visited them.  I've had Tim Hortons a few times, and I must say that the mint Iced Capp is absolutely amazing.

In addition to what everyone else recommended, if you're looking for a breakfast-esque food that will fill you up pretty good, try a Bagel Belt. I usually substitute out the bacon for a slice of sausage but either way, it tastes damn fine.

Truth betold, Tim Hortons has been in Northeast America for a while now, they just now decided to move into Manhattan. As for what to try, the Ice caps are pretty good and try the Timbits.

Ya I saw that they had like 500 locations in NA; however they swarmed midtown manhattan and took like the 3 dunkin donuts I knew about with it and being an anti-Star Bucks person needed to know if I was forsaken to stand in long lines at deli's and coffee shops blocks away from work.

I don't  go there often, but one time my school teacher took me there to try their sandwiches, and it was really  good!  Obviously, though, they have the best donuts.

I always get the ham and swiss sandwich.  Most people around her like the "double double" if you're into coffee.  Try the Iced Cappuccino, too.

@BoneMachine: Uhh... Tim Horton's has been in the U.S. for a while. Manhattan isn't all of America.

They've had stores in Buffalo, Columbus, and Detroit, amongst other places.

And to the TC:

Tim Horton's isn't really all that special. Donuts, coffee, sandwiches -- standard coffeeshop fare.
