I followed the whole fiasco with Jeff and Gamespot, as soon as I heard him and Ryan were creating Giantbomb I came over. Arrow pointing down also got me into podcasts.

My friend was like "Hey, check out the dudes play Persona." I was all "No, that's dumb." Then I did and now I can never leave.

One of my friends is doing a podcast about gaming in his native language, and I heard him talking about GB a lot. I decided to check it out, and as it turns out, this is pretty entertaining.

i stumpled upon gamespot way back when, i diddent really do much on the site only listen to the hotspot and then there live shows. and loved it.
when jeff got fired and people started to leave gamespot was just not the same and kinda boring although there were still really talented people it was just not as entertaining. then i stumpled upon a post on gs that said that jeff and ryan was going to start a new site. and thats how.
and if your also asking why i decided to become a premium member it was basically two reasons 1. i liked supporting the stupid shit they do 2. they wanted to split up the bombcast in to two episodes unless they got enough memebers to justify it. and i did not want it split. also there is the whole benefit of me never being able to watch the live shows since im either sleeping or at work. so at least i get to see the archived versions

I liked Jeff when he was at Gamespot and was shocked to hear about him getting fired. When I heard that he had a new website-I was interested is seeing what was up. Became a member when they first offered it because I wanted to support the things that I enjoy.

It was the Kinect launch and I was looking for streams of people playing it. Came across the GB Live Stream on Twitch and Jeff asked Ryan "What do you think of this game space poncho man"

Ryans response "It fucking sucks"

Been a member ever since

I followed Jeff and Ryan at Gamespot, followed Jeff when he left to the blog and Arrow Pointing Down, then was a day one member when GB was launched. When Vinny and Brad came over it was just icing on the cake and I knew this was the place for me.

I came over because of Gerstmann Gate. I was a Gamespot subscriber (because I enjoyed the hotspot/on the spot shows with those guys) and as soon as I heard Jeff and Ryan were starting something new I was on board!

I wanted a podcast, so I listened to one the highest rated video game ones that wasn't run by some personality-less website. I didn't even know Giantbomb was a website! Then they mentioned something going up on the site and now I can never leave and will die here

Being from the UK I read Eurogamer a lot and a question was posed about what other sites people liked - someone mentioned Giant Bomb. It was just before Ryan passed.

Ever since then I've had an attachment to the site and the people that run it, and strangely, barely read Eurogamer these days.

While a lot of people cite Jeff and the old Gamespot crew as why they moved over to GB, Patrick joining the site is what got me to visit. As a dumb highschool kid I watched a lot of X-play and was part of the community over at G4's site where I was a big fan of Patrick and Adam Sessler's old podcast. I didn't checkout GB until late 2011 after reading some bad reviews on the Hotspot iTunes page pointing everyone towards the Bombcast where I was excited to hear Patrick again, plus a three hour podcast was insane and awesome. Going through the Persona 4 ER and subscribing to watch the 3DO TNT is what got me to stay. Never understood why people would watch other people play games before then.

came here because there is not much out there, ign is messy though has great video content on its app, Polygon website just puts me off, gamespot lost me as a reader years ago, eurogamer is just plain un interactive and all the small sites even my site have not established themselves enough yet to leave a foot print where as sites that did leave a foot print 1 up etc. have all shut down

I listened to the Bombcast kind of casually until my friend recommend that I watch this thing called the Persona 4 Endurance Run, and that's all it took to get me hooked. That was in August of 2010.

@isomeri: I never followed gaming outlets of any kind. Even as a kid I was never really into reading the magazines or anything like that. That said I ended up watching a Quick Look which led me to look at the How To Build A Bomb episodes, and that's when I thought these guys were alright. Now I regret not following them during their GameSpot days!

@alwaysbebombing: I thought it was dumb as well, which is why I never really paid much attention to any video game coverage, and I definitely thought watching someone play a game was idiotic. Why would I watch someone else play a game, when I could play it myself? I guess a part of it can be related to something like MST3K, though, and I loved that. Anyway, I'm glad I ended up giving them a shot. I had no idea I'd get so hooked.

100% due to the Persona 4 Endurance Run. Had been a massive fan of that series since P3 and saw someone tweet about this website playing through it MST3K-style (also one of my favorite things ever) and started coming to the site around episode 3 or 4. Never turned back!

I was a huge gamespot guy, I stopped using that site once Jeff got fired and the rest of the guys left. A month or so after giant bomb started my cousin told me about it since he knew I loved jeff as a reviewer, been around ever since. To this day I still never use gamespot, but only because it's not a regular thing for me anymore, it seems pretty good again and having Danny around here is making me try to use it lately .

On a episode of the WarRocket Ajax podcast one of the PAX panels was mentioned, it was the one where Ryan would read up Ice-T's gamer tweets. I started listening to the podcasts somewhere in 2010-11 and following the site eversince.

I saw the quick look to New Super Mario Bros Wii linked in the forums of the Chud website. I loved the quick look so much that I just started watching their other quick looks, then discovered the bombcast and got hooked.

Later on I decided to become a Premium member when they announced the first Snes Party which I felt I couldn't miss, and I haven't looked back since.

First I was looking on a forum discussing the best gaming podcasts because I had just learned how to use podcasts on my phone. One mentioned was the Giant Bombcast among a handful of others ( Now almost all of them don't exist anymore) Eventually the thread was discussing Jeff's termination. I became curious and looked into it further to see if the claims were true for the reason he was let go. Finally reaching the site to check out the podcast. I believe all of this was slightly before the persona 4 endurance run.

I think my reasons for coming here is quite unique. See, I followed Jeff and Ryan way before they started Giant Bomb. They used to work at a site called Gamespot with some of the members that later came to join this site.

So, quite unique perspective there.

I can't truly remember, it was either the video they did for the Giant Bomb app or some article on another website/forum that drew me here. Seeing how their quick looks worked and how they didnt sugar coat shit made me a member!

An unhealthy, and almost cult-like devotion to Jeff. He's what got me to listen to the Gamespot podcast, and the events following the Kane and Lynch debacle led me here. To this day, my favorite Jeff Gerstman podcast quote (as best as I recall) is "I know you've been reading all my Joust fan-fiction." This site keeps getting better. Did not become a premium member until recently though. And that's my one regret with this site. I wish I had done it sooner. Dan Ryckert is part of the reason for that. I had to see the Metal Gear videos he did with Drew.

I'd been familiar with most of the guy since the gamespot days, remember watching to on the spot in high school and really enjoying it. Eventually a friend told me they'd made a new site after they left GS, I started watching QL's, listening to the bombcast and eventually just subscribed after years of just following them since these days most of the best content that isn't QL's or podcasts seem to be premium.

Never really visited gamesites but saw giantbomb pop up on /r/games a lot. Then there was a promotion where i could get 2 free months of Giantbomb, for 1 month of reddit gold. Then i watched some of the content they produced and really loved the no-bullshit, let's play some awesome games - vibe. Sites like gamespot and IGN always feel way too formal, like they are some sort of institution. Giantbomb are just a bunch of dudes on a sofa talking about life and which games they are into.

The site also made me fall in love with podcasts. There are quite some games that i just turn down to listen music. Now i can listen to Dan's eating habits instead!

I was on the gamespot forums when the whole Kane and Lynch thing went down. I got into the site because of the reviews and system wars. I didn't really know who wrote the reviews, I just trusted the site. I had fun with the mayhem of system wars.

Eventually I got pretty sick of the mayhem and wanted to find somewhere a bit more civil to talk/learn about games. I remembered a thread about giantbomb on gamespot and checked it out. Fell in love with the place.

It's a funny story really, well not so much funny but it's a story anyway. About two years ago ( I think? ) I was looking for a job after leaving my previous job writing for a trade publication and I know you'd never believe me but jobs writing in mostly print media are kind of hard to come by these days so I had a fair amount of free time on my hands. Obviously this was the perfect time to play a JRPG, maybe the only time, so I picked up Persona 4 because I had heard great things and hadn't enjoyed a JRPG in years and years but had a bunch of great childhood memories of the best of them.

Eventually I was looking for an answer to a riddle posed by one Funky Student and thought a YouTube video might be the quickest way to get the answer. After hearing the worst Ice Cube impressions known to Human Kind I was hooked.

I didn't follow Gamespot but became aware of Jeff with the situation surrounding his departure. I was disappointed with the writing, politics and commercialism of the major gaming sites with a few exceptions. When I read Jeff was starting GiantBomb I was happy to give it a chance. It seemed like the type of site that was going to be written by and for gamers, not advertisers. I have not been disappointed and the staff at Giant Bomb not only share my love for games, turns out they are pretty interesting and funny writers as well.

I somehow stumbled upon a quick look a few years back. Originally that was all I was here for, quick looks and the occasional live thursday night throwdown. Then when I started university I got really into random podcasts, which eventually led to me looking for a gaming podcast, which I in turn found on this site. That was the real moment of becoming a massive GB fan for me. I started watching even more of their content. Eventually wound up subscribing a few years ago and I've never looked back. I never really got into the forums until I became a member and I find I frequent them more often now that my old forum hangout (a tiny little community of 7-12 regular posters) closed down. I love the staff, old and new, and I love the content, and while there are occasionally some issues, I generally love the community.

I think when Jeff got fired I started feeling like the games that got good ratings were the ones that paid the site and I could not really trust gamespot anymore. I stopped visiting gaming sites for awhile, at some point I returned to gamespot randomly and there was a comment in it about Giantbomb, that's where I learned about Giantbomb, I'd say I was one of the first people to discover this place, when I came there were like 3-4 videos on the site, but I recognized Jeff and stuck around.

In 2006 I got a small inheritance from my aunt, and this was basically the first time I ever had money. So I bought my own computer which led to an unprecedented amount of internet access. I stumbled across gaming websites and instantly realized how much better this was than borrowing my friends Game Informer. I ended up picking Gamespot kind of arbitrarily honestly. I listened to the Hotspot while playing fucking Runescape, and these funny dudes really made me care about the site. Then the dude who I thought was the funniest got fired over something I didn't really understand at the time, and the podcast wasn't as good after that. One by one all the funniest dudes left, so I followed them here.

It's really weird to think I've been following these guys for like 8 years.

One of my best friends recommended this site to me, saying that I would enjoy the BombCast's humour very much. He was right!

EDIT: Oh yeah, in case anyone was curious, I ended up buying a premium account to watch Random PC game. I still miss Dave ;_;

EDIT EDIT: And now Alexis is gone too...

On the Spot and The Hotspot podcast around 2004-2005.I remember finding GameSpot because they had the Nintendo E3 livestream. It was the one where Reggie said, "I'm about kicking ass, taking names, and playing games." Was probably the first time I remember someone cursing too. Followed them over to Giant Bomb afterwards.
