GB East Logo I've been playing around with.
I like the idea a whoooooole lot. It's greatest fault is that it's only legible at a high resolution. A good logo is clear as day, even when teeny tiny.
Even the "GB" is getting lost in the details, and that's your bread and butter! Instead of relying on type for the cardinal directions, try symbols? Maybe something more subtle, like the old Northwest Airlines logo?
Additionally, I'd say maybe try out a few different color schemes? I can't say the dull blue and pink is doing much to catch my eye.
Like I said though, conceptually, it's a great start!
The idea is under developed and need more thought put into it. An image of a compass does not exactly communicate video games or the East Coast. The monogram is well rendered but could be misread as C13 or C73. The word East in bold italic and its placement is too obvious. The color choices are dull and do not fit with the rest of the site. The basic outline of the two concentric circles and a diagonal line pointing to the right is reminiscent of the Laughing Man logo.
Designing a logo is tough. The goal is to communicate an ideal visually. Don't assume the audience knows what you are talking about. Try coming up with a word list or brain map to organize your ideas. Try to draw thumbnails or small sketches. Pick the ones that stand out and make larger roughs of those images. It is great that you are contributing work to the community but you are capable to do better. Just keep at it.
