So on my computer I'm getting this error message on startup:

"The file is possibly corrupt.  The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum."

Has anyone here on Giant Bomb gotten this message before and made it go away?  I have done a system restore and it didn't work.  As I'm typing this, I'm doing a Diagnostic Test thingy.

I looked at THIS link for help and I think I may have to take out my sound card and try a Startup Repair and see if that helps.

I run Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit.

If you need me to list my PC specs, I can do that.

GIANT BOMB, I NEED YOUR HELP!

Somebody know this guy?  His computer is so corrupt it's sending out messages for help automatically.

FY- I'd guess you have a disk issue with a file (maybe it got locked in a funny state or your disk has bad sectors)

Getting the same error, awesome.  My friend and I will play around with my computer tomorrow.  I just hope it's not a hardware error.

Dude, if it's a hardware error, it's just hard drive based most likely; might be a RAM issue, but I doubt it.

What I'd do, is download an boot CD called Hiren's Boot CD; I think they're on version 10.5 right now. It has a lot of dos based tools that you can use to repair your drive. There are tutorials for each one, but PM me if you need help or an explanation.

Don't worry, I'm an IT guy! *Busts out favorite shirt that states the opposite*

@Tricks73r:   Thanks for the heads up.  My friend was thinking it might be a hard drive thing as well.
