im looking for an mp3 player that

has 4 gigs + of memory
flash memory is preferrable, but hd is okay with me
good battery life
video/ picture viewing is unnecessary, but i still want to be able to easily navigate through menus
compact
xbox 360 compatible

im looking to the ipod nano, but its a rip off compared to others. suggestions? also im aware that ms points are used in the zune store, is it possible for me to use the ms point cards for xbox live?

Does it have to be iTunes compatible? Because that broadens the choice a lot...

You will probably want to buy the 4GB Zune, then.

I don´t know if Creative players are compatible with the 360, but they are awesome!! I would recommend one of them without hesitation

psp?

thats what i use for all that stuff, including streaming podcasts off the wireless connection.

Its not so compact though i guess, but it does play chains olympus and patapon.

As far as itunes compatible, fuck that, i use tunebite to rip all the drm off. Serously thats some bullshit monopoly there. If im going to pay for my music for a change, im not going to fucking be restricted to the ipod to listen to it.

A Zen V+ is your best bet. It's got up to 8 gigs (16 gig was discontinued), it's way smaller than a nano, good screen, radio, microphone, amazing battery life, easy navigation (not as easy as an IPod scroll wheel though), and it works with Microsoft products. It's excellent. I highly recommend it.

Yes, you can use the points you already have. And all music on the Zune Marketplace is DRM free, so when you buy any, you can do whatever you want with them. I wouldn't recommend getting a zune pass though.

Cards that are similar to XBL Pre-Paid ones, or a subscription, if you have no problem using cards, I wouldn't worry about it.

I own a 16GB Touch (worth it and I mowed over 30 lawns to get it), but it seems like you want an all purpose device to carry everything. I suggest a 30GB Zune.

Not sure if this is compatible with a 360 or not, but I have a Sony NWZ-S606F that I really like.  It's 4GB and has a really good quality radio (which was important for me).

If you want good battery life, stick with flash memory.
