I don't know if a lot of you guys know, but the sixth Harry Potter film was just delayed until summer '09. The movie is already done so you wonder why they would do this. Apparently Warner Bros. isn't making enough money *cough* Dark Knight *cough*. What infuriates me about this is that they "don't have a blockbuster for next summer" so they have to sacrifice letting a movie slip because they don't think it would make as much money as it would as a summer movie. If anyone else feels kind of pissed you are completely open to discuss.

I haven't cared enough to read the book, so I probably wouldn't have watched the movie anyway.

I watched the first three movies, but that was a long time ago....

I just can't get over the Oscar scott card bashing JK.Rowling thing, that was just too hilarious and true

Oh well, they were going downhill since "Prisoner of Azkaban" anyway. If only Terry Gilliam was chosen to direct Harry Potter...

I read that they did it because there was a big open weekend in the summer where they'd get the most money off of release.  They said that the movie could have been released in November, but they want that summer spot.  Kind of annoying, isn't it?

The movie is done. Everything has been finished. I don't know anything about a stabbing, but I know that Warner will be sitting on a movie for an entire year.

The movie was has been done for awhile, and that stabbing only occurred like a month ago. It is stupid because they want more money, it is stupid because you have to wait 7 for months to watch it.

But it doesn't bother me, because I never like the movies or books.

They've kinda alternated the whole Xmas/July thing for the past few films, so I don't really care.  I read all 7 books and I think they were great (her adding stuff after the final book came out was bullshit, but whatever).  The movies are nice and all, but if you read the book you really nitpick them a lot.

No they haven't. The second one came out a year after the first one. After that, though, the movies have been one and a half years apart. This is the first movie to come out two years after the last one.

Harry potter 1 november 16th 2001
Harry potter 2 November 15th 2002
Harry potter 3 june 4th 2004
harry potter 4 november 18th 2005
Harry ptter 5 july 11th 2007

3 out of 5 releases have been around xmas/thanksgiving thus an average thus...a tradition.
This release will make for a 50/50 split between average of thanksgiving release and summer release, if they had released it it would be 4/2 for near thanksgiving release therefor establishing the tradition even more but its not they are pushing it back.

I dont mind so much. I've read the book and they're always much better than the films. Its a shame I'll have to wait a bit longer to stare at Emma Watson on the big screen though.

With them making the last book into 2 movies this series is stretching itself out way too long, all the people who were fans 8 or 9 years ago probably don't feel like waiting another 3-4 years for the rest of the movies.

That doesn't make it a tradition. That's 60%. =P If you had turkey on Christmas 60% of the time, would you call it a tradition? I think not. ;-P
