Im trying to record PC footage with the colossus, and for some reason it will not capture audio, I could easily have it setup wrong, so here is how everything is connected. I have and HDMI to DVI 6ft cord (HDMI from colossus to DVI on Graphics card) and that works just fine i can capture video. But im trying to record optical audio as well, the colossus has optical in and out inputs, this is how I thought the cords should go. Optical in - Colossus to on-board sound card. Optical out - colossus to my output device which is my Astro Mixamp. I can hear audio through my Mixamp but the colossus will not record it. I'm guess it has something to do with my sound recording settings in windows but I have no idea please help thanks.

Windows 7?
I suggest trying RCA audio, to see if there might be an issue with using hdmi and optical at the same time. Doesn't hdmi usually handle sound as well as video?
I've not used any of this gear. What software are you using to capture the audio/video?
Are you running the audio out of the PC on-board sound card, through the collossus for capture, then through the astro for monitoring?
If you're getting sound to the astro, the pass-through for the colossus is working. Which likely means the Windows settings are good, but the recording software settings might be off.
Also, you might try unplugging the optical all together and recording the hdmi output. You may not get audio to monitor the capture, but if you get sound in the recording you know the hdmi to the cap card is working.
As LD50 said, the issue might lie in that HDMI handles sound as well as video usually, which then gets disrupted by the converter. I don't really have any experience with the products in question, but that seems like a good place to start at least. If not, try to see if you need to tell an input that it's supposed to be "listened" to in the Windows audio settings
How are you liking the colossus aside from that though, anything worth checking out?
