they are called gunnar opticks and they apparently reduce eyestrain when you are looking at a computer

has anyone tried these out before? if so do they work? (i think i remember jeff talking about that he uses glasses like these at his home and that they actually work, not too sure though)

Don't overpay for some gamer crap, all these glasses are suppose to do is to keep your eyes in longer more regular periods of focus then the sporadic constant refocusing monitors cause. Anything tinted i imagine would be really annoying, am pretty sure almost all optometrists sell these as well.

Whatever old man. Cumbersome is hip. Untied shoelaces and clothes that don't fit were the shit in the 90's. Have you seen how gangsta it is to be texting while talking on another cellphone? This should put you ahead of the curve. :P

Adam Sessler did an advertising campaign for them because he was so impressed with how well they worked. He doesn't seem like the sort of dude to sell out for any old trash either.

Never heard of it, but if there are black gunnar opticks, it seems like the gamer equivalent of Albert Wesker would wear them.

I find now if you're ever feeling eyestrain, and are someone who is prone to it like me, just look away from the monitor/ book you're using for 5 minutes and come back to it. You really don't need an expensive pair of glasses to fix a small issue.
Just another little hint you may already know: the further away whatever it is you're looking at, the more relaxed your eyes. So when taking a break from the monitor, look out the window for a bit.

Kind of weird hearing there are people that have never heard of these. They've been around forever and are always advertised everywhere games are. Black Ops even had a specially made Call of Duty branded pair of them.

Never bought them, but they always have a huge presence at PAX, and I've tried them there.

@mrfluke: I used something like that at PAX while playing Black Ops. All it did for me was make everything yellow.

I came in expecting this topic to be about Sex Machine's crotch gun in From Dusk Till Dawn.

I'd totally use that product.

I use F.lux to help with eye strain. If I turn it off in the night it's blinding, I can't not have it on now. http://stereopsis.com/flux/

This...After hearing about F.lux from the [i think it was tested] podcast i checked it out and it works like a charm. And like DuskVamp said, if you turn it off at night everything appears abnormally blue and blinding. Just be sure to set it to change over the duration of an hour...i first set it to change over the duration of a few seconds and the orange shift was real awkward when delivered that fast.

This x2. It works great. It's a bit weird at first, but after a few days or so, you literally don't pay attention to it anymore.

But it wouldn't be fair. then no one would have any reason to go to any other gaming site. Ever. It's like the all-star team of journalists and funny people.

We could all become more productive (or counter-productive depending on the content) if we all had dual monitor setups and kept one outside our window...
