In light of recent events have you ever said something bad, that you immediately regretted saying?

I'll get the ball rolling. I was joking around with some people at school, and a teacher happened to be walking past at a particularly inopportune moment; basically, I ended up inadvertently soliciting sex with a teacher - it was horrifically embarrassing, but thankfully they chose to 'ignore' what I said.

Not that I can remember.

The worst thing like this that happened to me, actually wasn't something I said. One of my friends called me a word, and the teacher thought I said it for some stupid reason (he sat right in front of her, I sat in the way back because she seperated our group of friends for talking to much (and gambling ;) and he yelled it at me in the way back calling me by name but still she mixed us up). I got in trouble.

I don't believe I have ever done this, because of my general lack of communicating to others as well as me always having been on the receiving end of discrimination. Also, I have a lot of self control.

Of course I have and when it happens I decide to do the "grown up" thing and just apologize.
To me it's more "grown up" to apologize than try to defend your use of some words that may or may not have offended someone.  
Then again I grew up in this little fantasy world were common sense was a thing and porn was on the lower shelf while candy was on the higest shelf.

I said it whilst turning around, and the teacher happened to walking past behind me at the time.

A few years ago in school I pulled loose a knot on a girl's dress, as in "Haha, now you have to do this knot back up." Then a few days later I was pulled out of class because apparently the knot on the dress was functional and not just there to look nice and she had reported me for sexual harrassment. I was really surprised when I found out.

@Claude: Same I had this really weird point in my life where I dropped n bombs for no god damn reason. Glad i'm over that now. Also you are one crazy motherfucker.

I've said awful, awful things with friends but nothing I'd feel remorse over saying in the presence of someone. Different social situations call for different swears. Even in a relaxed work place where people swear pretty regularly I still find that a weird place to let loose like that.

In middle school I was talking to one of my buddies about a substitute teacher who, admittedly, was trying to teach a really awful group of children. But, seeing as how I was a kid, I thought she was a terrible person. So, during a moment when the class was really loud, I turned to my buddy to tell him what I thought of the teacher. Just as I was about to speak the class fell silent unbeknownst to me unfortunately. So, in the midst of a silent classroom I described the teacher as a 'bitch'. This led to the first and only time I went to see the principle.

It was a windy day and I had a group date with a chick who just got back from playing a softball game in which her team lost. A napkin flew off the table and she went to catch it, but missed and I couldn't stop myself from saying "No wonder your team lost." Mouths were agape and they were all staring at me. I felt fine, but things didn't go well after that. That is pretty mild, I admit, but it was the most recent one that I can remember.

On an LGBT forum, we were discussing the history of a certain contentious word and I was warned by a mod for using it. I have a hard time understanding such sentiments, but like I've learned today, different cultures treat words differently.

Yeah, basically this for me. Although, growing up I probably used 'retarded' in the same way kids use the other f-word now.

Pretty much on a daily basis. I work at a meat counter and I'll always inadvertently make some strong sexual euphemism, like "you want a bigger sausage? Yeah, I like them as big as possible, as well," or "Which [chicken] breast do you want? Oh, yeah, all the breasts we get back here are huge."

I never realize it until they leave.

I've used everything around everyone. My friends and I say some pretty vulgar and disrespectful things to each other in a playful manor. Regardless of race, gender, or sexual preference I will make a joke even if it contains slurs or is utterly offensive. I do not however say these things to people who don't know me and how I joke or poke fun.

I can be quite the ruthless motherfucker, and I expect my friends to be the same.

this isn't the worst thing, but it's the most recent. i was in line with some friends at a local record store for record store day earlier this month. it was like, 11 pm, and i was cold and tired. a lot of people were walking by drunkenly, asking what was going on and what not. no biggie. then this douche with his girlfriend was walking by, just being a general dick. making fun of people, calling them dumb for standing in line. as he walked by, i said "Nice Duke jacket, Shoemaker." he had on this ugly ass blue leather Duke jacket. just looked dumb. well, the guy in front of me in line looks at me, and slowly puts his hand over his hat. it was a Duke hat. all i could say was, "No dude, you're cool. You're not a douche in an ugly jacket."

Ive talked about inappropriate things loudly on the bus and Ive realized that I shouldnt do that

I once got drunk with a group of friends (and my girl friend) then spent 40 minutes discussing different sex acts involving multiple people and if doing them makes you gay (nothing wrong with that if you are.... just saying) with a friend. Right in front of my girl friend. Who was not drunk. She did not like that the next day. Actually probably everything I said that night I would put on this list.

EDIT: For clarity sake, I am generally very quiet and never would normally talk about something like that in front of anyone.

I told my Dad how much I hated and despised him in a fit of teenage rage, the day after he got a heart attack and died, true story.

I do regret that a bit.

I don't remember anything 'big.' The worst i can think of is that me and my friends wrote a song for a talent show minutes before we had to audition and I forgot the words to the song lol so I was like "aw SHIT" in the middle of the song and the teachers/students present just chose to ignore it I guess lol.

We won the talent show though if that counts for anything.

I remember when i got really angry at my music teacher (music sucked chameleon balls) I used to swear at her a lot. Using the words: Bitch, whore, etc. etc. Those were the days.

I said n*gger several times in front of black people, I am as white as the cream. To be fair I was singing some Dr. Dre song.

I have also said, "like yo momma" to someone who's mother had died. Twice.

I've used the n-word on numerous occasions around black friends and people I didn't know, only had to apologize once though :P. But I have a little brown in me so didn't really see the big deal off using the word and I call my black friends "nicca" or "nigga" and vice versa.
