I'm including games industry people in this.
Posting pics get you bonus XP(or atleast it should)
The only one I have ever met was the model Jodie Marsh (UK readers will know all about her). She's a minor celebrity and not the kind of person I want to admit to meeting.
I swear I saw the back of David Ginola once.
Have you ever met someone famous?
I met Shaq and his agent a couple of months ago. I was in a hat shop, he came in and the people in the shop didn't speak English, so he asked me if I knew a good Italian restaurant. My girlfriend and I just so happened to be going to one of San Francisco's oldest and best Italian restaurants, so I told him about it and invited the two of them to join us. They did. Nice people, it was a quick lunch. Shaq is VERY soft spoken, almost shy. I'm 6'2" and dude makes me look tiny in comparison.
When we left the restaurant there was a group of people gathered around, a bunch of them had brand new basketballs and those metallic magic markers for him to sign, which he did. Also, he posed for pictures with a few kids that were there. I don't know how all those people knew that he was at that restaurant, or how they got those basketballs so quickly. We were only there for 45 minutes or less.
I tend to encounter a fair few famous people through my work from time to time. A few local sports personalities that no one or few people would know here. A couple of politicians, Kim Beazley was one of my favorite customers while I was working in South Perth. I also met Dave Grohl at the same place which was doubley awesome because of the reaction of one of my colleagues who was a big fan. I guess pretty much anyone has been to events that sort of demand meetings like book signings etc.
I have met in person:
Latoya London: She was the fourth place finalist of the third season of American Idol, many, including myself will argue that she should of won the whole thing. I got the chance to meet her because she happens to be the sister of one of my teachers when I was in High School.
Marcus Henderson: Hes the man who did most of the cover guitar work for the first 2 Guitar Hero games. I met him at a Gamestop GH2 tournament here in the Bay Area.
If you count over the internet:
I am part of the PlayerOnePodcast community so I have had the chance to play many online games with Chris Johnston, Greg Sewert and Phil Theobald all who were from Electronic Gaming Monthly.
I also had the lucky chance of one time being in an XBL party with Garnett Lee, IT WAS AWESOME!
I can only think of two right now.
1: (then) Governor Dirk Kempthorn for Idaho. He was Idaho's Senator before that. Then he became the Secretary of the Interior under Bush. From wiki: "Kempthorne has been mentioned as a possible candidate for U.S. President in 2012". Pretty cool guy.
2: The 14th Dalai Lama. "Tenzin Gyatso." I shook his hand. I'm not even sure how to explain on that further. It was when he came to Idaho for...something, I can't recall what, a few years ago. I was just standing back stage (my mom was one of the people helping set up the place) when he got there and he shook my hand (before anyone elses, ha :P). Also a pretty cool guy.
On a vacation to the states I met Drew Carey and Ryan Stiles.
I have the pictures somewhere so I'll have to scan them in at some point
And the autographs too =D
I met Orson Scott Card and learned from Soho Machida for a year. The former I would expect you to know (Ender's Game, Shadow Complex), while the latter is more of a politically known figure who you wouldn't know unless you are into Asian philosophy or you know about the Kyoto Protocol.
