Ok... I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of headset works best but isnt going to cost me a small fortune?
I saw the Astro A40 on amazon and love it but then I saw the price and nearly died. Who charges $250 for a head set? Anyhoo, Is there anything cheaper that isnt crap? or do I just suck it up and pay?

I dunno. I have the Earforce X41s, bought them off amazon for around $140. They're wireless, which is a plus over the astros, and the sound quality is just about on par with the Astros. The only downside is that the mic isn't perfect.

Get a cheap, 30$ Turtle Beach one. Their okay quality, and cheap. This one looks okay -

I would just get a cheap wireless MS headphone.

Oh god. I remember I had a Turtle Beach sound card. Worst drivers ever. The sound never ever worked and it wasn't even good. Maybe because it was a terrible Pentium 3 633Mhz like 512 RAM old computer, but that sound was terrible. I don't know about their products now, but they look a lot better.

Fortunately their headsets are plug & play. No drivers required.

I know that. I had a PCI Express Sound Card a while ago for my old computer. I wasn't talking about their headseats, but those look good.

@RetroIce4: Look, you said "I don't know about their products now" and all I said was "You don't need to mess with drivers with the headsets."

I hate those for when I'm talking to someone who has one because you can hear your echo and then get confused.

Same here, and no problems at all. Plus, I can use it with my PC. I've heard of some people having issues with it disconnecting and not holding charge, but it's been great for me so far - about two years.

Just use the Microsoft 360 wireless one, you can even recharge it with your xbox off.
