I work at a marketing company doing a range of IT-related stuff, including graphic design, social media, and general troubleshooting. I'm the only person in the building who knows a good bit about computers so I'm basically "the computer guy." It's a small business so it's pretty informal regarding what I'll be doing each day. At night I do freelance work in writing and editing and I'm trying to expand into doing graphic design as well and then later I'd like to open a business, maybe a publication house or a screen printing press. I've also been writing creatively since I was very young and I want to write horror stories for kids and young adults, like the Goosebumps and Fear Street books that I loved as a kid.
Hey Bombers, What Do You Do for a Living?
" Construction. Mainly hardwood flooring, trim, cabinets. That sorta jazz. "Do you enjoy your work? Any tips for learning how to do these things/ getting into the industry? I have been thinking I would be interested in it, though I have had only limited exposer to it. \
I currently working at a book store, doing the typical retail stuff. I am also a disillusioned student, who isn't really that interested in what I am learning.
" You know the person that checks you in at a doctors office? Yea that's me. Except I work at an OBGYN. So not only am I really using my Geography degree but I'm constantly getting uncomfortable looks from women as a 22-year old dude checks them in for their pap-smear. "Lol, how did you land that job?
" @audiosnag said:Yeah it's pretty good, it's nice to be able to do a few different things. I do a lot of flooring and that can get a little tedious but its not a bad job. Best way is to get hired on with somebody as a laborer. You start off doing grunt work and cleaning but if you pay attention and pick stuff up you'll move up pretty fast, a lot of guys are suprisingly useless at it." Construction. You don't need to get your license, unlike a trade like electrician, but it helps a lot, you learn a lot in school and you can charge a lot more. If you're working for yourself you can make really good money.
