History of Hardcore Dave.

Alright GB community. Educate me on the Hardcore Dave stuff. There is a shirt so there must be a story. Educate me on this GB "meme" if you want to call it that.

During a TNT of Team Fortress 2, the community found an old account of his on another website and created a twitter account posting quotes from it. That was part of it but I can't remember where the picture came from.

Duder uploaded a picture of himself lookin' all buff and hardcore circa 18 years old or something. Also, users found some old-crusty-ass message board where he used to post when he was high school, and the posts were hilarious. Though, the message board thing is probably technically "Young Snide" and not "Hardcore Dave". I don't know, these fucking memes confuse me.

The description on the store tells it well enough. Dave was hardcore in his youth. He wore a vest and had a shaved head. Dave let slip his old forum posting habbits. I made a stupid design out of it, Vager & Mister Chief put together a site to let people put their own quotes in to the design, and we made a shirt out of it.

EDIT: Reading the thread I realized this happened last August which I started visiting the site last July. I have no idea how I missed this, I feel completely stupid now.

@Nightriff: It was a crazy time. I don't know what the hell happened, but they sold a hell of a lot of those shirts.

Meme sounds like bombs in Chinese pronunciation.

Came here looking for answers after seeing the shirt in the store. Sometimes I think GiantBomb needs a "KnowYourMeme". The community and even the Bombers themselves can get a bit self-referential and exclusionary at times - not in a bad way per se, but it never feels good to not "be in on" a joke.

In any case, the Hardcore Dave thread could use a little bit of a history writeup, especially for potential new members.
