For the record, I have gotten a handful of "hey, long time no see/post/whatever" from people who I chat with on these forums, so while not necessarily on the lines of your proposed situation, there are some people who might have some sort of interest in what I've had to say.
But whatever, doesn't matter. I mostly just wanted to echo similar sentiments about how we should just say congrats, maybe ask questions or provide some sort of insight into the topic, then move on. I always just get extremely disappointed when forum posts devolve into half-assed (not even full-assed) insults and memes, because I know the community is so much better than that. I'm not holier than thou, I'm not better than anyone else (I'm actually pretty sure that I'm a much worse person than 98 % of the people who populate the forums), I'm not entitled to any more or less than anyone else here. I'm not saying that people aren't entitled to be immature, but there's another outlet for that, I'm sure.
