Me and my son LOVE hotdogs. If we could eat them every day, we would. That said, for some reason, I'm looking at Hot Dog toasters on Amazon. Do you guys have any experience with them or even recommend them?

@nutter: Kinda? Also it might be easier (not that hotdogs are hard to make) /quicker/more fun to toast them. Especially if there's a taste benefit.

@chummy8: Never tried one. I’m a grill man, but I’ve slummed in a microwave, used a pan, and boiled in water (power outage) and beer (overrated, in my experience).

Like chili, people can get a little sensitive when it comes to Hotdogs. I usually just boil them since it's easy or grill them if I feel like uncovering my grill. If I boil them, that creates dishes where I could technically just toast and go with no mess.

Yes. Laziness is a factor.

I feel like it would be way more trouble to clean the hotdog holes out and you'll always kind of know it's not completely clean.

I have studied this I think the best method, that has an easiest to clean method is this type:

  • Easy to wash chamber
  • Cook capsule is covered/sealed, so less stale hot dog oder
  • Toaster for buns just needs a brushing off - crumbs don't get trapped.
  • You can stream anything you want in the easy to wash chamber

We had a pretty standard hot dog toaster at a small office that I worked at and it wasn't worth the cleaning it took to not smell like old wiener drippings and smoke after a few uses. I wouldn't recommend it.
