How do you guys get around? Do you come from areas with good public transit? If so what type of public transit do you use? If you drive what type of car do you use? A gas guzzling truck or a little compact for example. Also if you take public transit how much do you spend the average week using it, and if you have a car how much a week do you spend on average?

I personally grew up in an area with poor public transit so I always drove or was driven my entire life. Very few times did I use public transit excluding the School bus. Now ad days i drive a Chevy cobalt, I picked that car because it has good gas mileage and was cheap. My last car was a chevy s-10 and wasn't as kind on Gas. On average i spend about 25 usd on Gas.

I usually have to walk from place to place when it's reasonable to do so.  Other times I have to rely on others to take me places, but I usually offer money for gas or take them out to eat or something as thanks.

I have a car (1l petrol Corsa), but sometimes I use the train if the journey's going to be long. Usually spend £20 a week petrol.

Was glad as soon as I was able to drive, as the area I'm in had really poor public transport (buses), and they only got worse as I grew up. Buses kept breaking down and they kept removing buses from the service. Sucks in the UK the government keep telling us all to use buses and trains, then they're all unreliable or not even there.

Having said that, I found it pretty easy to get round London on the tube, etc. But then they got money to renovate the underground from money that was supposed have gone to improve public transport in the north (or so I heard).

I have a Mini 35, but I've had to take it off the road to save on insurance, tax, mot and petrol costs. I hate using buses, so I use my mums car, a Renault Megane to get to work.

Mazda B2200 (basically a rebranded Ford Ranger). I like it because it's a standard transmission, and it's not bad on gas.

I've also been known to take light rail transit, usually when the weather's bad.

A combination of walking, buses, bike, moped, snowmobile and friends. I'm a student so I don't have to pay for public transport (sorta).

I live in the country, so I don't really get around. Too far to drive to go anywhere of importance, and even if I get there you need money to do anything. Since I never have any of that I just stay in. When I do though, I usually borrow my dads truck. It's a 2000 something dodge pick up.

I either walk or take a bus. I don't plan on driving anytime in the future so this is most likely what I'll be doing fer da rest of my life.

Shitty used Ford Taurus (2000) that i've had to buy since i've moved to new jersey (where everything is so freaking far from each other) compared to Santa Rosa, CA where everything is close enough to just walk to.

I walk mostly, I live in downtown Toronto so as long as I budget my time effectively it's not a big deal (and with Podcasts like the Bombcast, the time flies by). I take Taxis if I need to be somewhere fast, and on rare occasions I'll rent a car.
