Forty.
OED cannot be argued with.
If they spell it Fourty in Canada..thats pretty cool too though.
How do you spell out "40"?

How is this thread still going even after it has been clearly established that the correct spelling is forty?
Oh man, I have always spelled it fourty. According to my sources (Oxford dictionary and Wikitionary) this is wrong, so consider me a forty-man from now on.
" why are we getting more and more useless topics on the forums lately? "And worse yet, they get a million replies. I answered the question in the first post, lol.
" @Meowshi said:It's possible for a nation to be wrong. I mean, that's how the Iraq War started." "Fourty" is the Canadian spelling "I'm Canadian and that's how I have always spelled it, so you must be right. Just like armour or colour. "
Oh shit, this topic just went downhill.
" @Meowshi said:Canada uses the correct spelling like the rest of the world. It's just certain individuals that are wrong." "Fourty" is the Canadian spelling "Canada is wrong. "
" @natetodamax said:As a Canadian, I was taught to use "Four" and "Forty"." @Meowshi said:Canada uses the correct spelling like the rest of the world. It's just certain individuals that are wrong. "" "Fourty" is the Canadian spelling "Canada is wrong. "
You know you could have tried a dictionary and saved yourself the public embarrassment...just saying. In fact wasn't the red line under fourty when you typed it in a massive tip off?
" As a Canadian, I was taught to use "Four" and "Forty". "Exactly. I don't know why some people seem to think it's spelled "fourty" in Canada.
Yeah, damn those English people spelling things in English. Who the hell do they think they are :/" @mazik765 said:
" @Meowshi said:I never really liked the British and Canadian spelling of most words. I find it odd that Favorite is spelled Favourite. "" "Fourty" is the Canadian spelling "I'm Canadian and that's how I have always spelled it, so you must be right. Just like armour or colour. "
Spot the spelling error:
The tyre on my car, which I had a licence for, was black in colour, like my pyjamas, which I must emphasise matched my moustache, which made me look like a paedophile with a fetish for analogue over digital, which was on the programme I watched recently, to fulfil my desire to measure myself in metres, and in defence of my behaviour which could lead to gaol, I manoeuvred well around, despite the draught that ensued as I ploughed through all of the jewellery I had, some of them being artefacts.
Answer - none.
No way, are you suggesting Americans adopt these spellings: license, pajamas, mostache, pedophile, draft and artifacts. Man I'm going to have to search some of those up I just don't believe it.
Edit: Holy shit pajamas is really how they spell it! Also on the subject of programme spelling it program is just plain wrong not a creative interpretation. The English language has both program and programme but each has different uses, e.g. you buy a programme at the theatre (god there's another one) but you run a program on your computer.
Also bravo oldschool I just read that again and there were a lot more Americanisms in there than I initially noticed!
" This isn't the type of thing to be "discussed" on the forums. Try Google... "Exactly. I don't see how this has gone on for 5 pages when I answered the question in the first reply.
" Five minutes and this thread is gonna be locked. What a waste of internet ink. You know thay have to liquidize five whole whales for just one drop of the stuff? You're killing the earth man. "more of a waste then the thread i created a while back asking if people used 1 loop or 2 loop method to tie their shoes?
@gunslingerNZ: Efficiency my dear friend. Program takes up less space. Programme just seems so unnecessary. Why do those last two letters need to be there?
