Weird how it's only just coming out in the US. I watched it last week (UK), really enjoyed it. Definitely my favourite of the three.

As for how much it will make at the US box office this weekend, I'll make a stab at a similar guess to yours Rorie... let's say $188 million. Like you said, I can't see it outdoing The Avengers, but it'll certainly break the top 5 biggest opening weekends.

I don't know what IM3 is but I'll guess $175 mill since the third movie always ruins everything for everyone.

While I was writing this my brain came up with Iron Man, then Impossible Mission but I think they have more than 3 movies already, then *swoon* Iron Monkey 3. Now I want to live in a world where the Iron Monkey series could do $200 million in 3 days, or at least get a third movie.

$93 million, there is no hype for this movie and Iron Man 2 wasn't very good, the only reason I think it will do well at all is the complete lack of anything else to see.

@rorie: Good question Rorie; 150 sounds like a decent bet. The press and hype isn't as huge as it was for Avengers or even close so I don't really see it doing that great. No other movie has gotten 185 ever. Not even the fangirl movies.

This dude was way off on Avengers last year so it'd be amusing if he failed to predict this one as well, despite the interesting characteristics of his site.

@jimmyfenix: "Good"ness only matters after the first weekend for major box office hits (word of mouth et cetera), but for what it's worth it has a 78% on Rotten Tomatoes. Granted Oblivion has a 56% and I have absolutely no doubt that that film is superior to this one. I'd be very surprised if it wasn't superior to Iron Man 2 (which was not a bad film, just kind of a brainless action movie with humor).

@evilnights: Oblivion is mostly under the surface good, like if you like 2001: A Space Odyssey you'll like it more, and if you like really neat aesthetics; I'm sure Iron Man 3 is more entertaining and much funnier than Oblivion. Big thing with Oblivion is it has the daily routine type of stuff from 2001 that is extremely hard to nail in a Sci Fi picture but when you do it immerses you in the world so completely that you'll follow wherever the film wants you to go thereafter.

Also the british chick's character gave off a serious Truman Show wife vibe which is so damn awesome and rare
