Hey guys, can anyone help me out about the pricing of liquor?
I'm just not familiar about what are reasonable prices for stuff. I'm just going to throw out some prices and you guys tell me if it's reasonable or not.
Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, 750ml, $26
Rain Vodka, 750ml, $20
Absolut vodka, 750ml, $25
Johnnie Walker black label blended scotch whisky, 750ml, $44
That seems like a good number to start with.
Note to mods: this is legal because I am either over 21 or live in a country where the drinking age is 18.
Thanks!
How much to pay for liquor?
" I wouldn't pay 26 bucks for a 750 of Captain. 26 bucks for a handle is a nice deal, however. "This. I would pay maybe 17 at the most for a 5th of captain. Absolut is terrible vodka and should be 20 dollars at the most for 750 ml
" @Jayross said:Yeah you have to shop around. Liquor prices aren't the same in every city/town." Note to mods: this is legal because I am either over 21 or live in a country where the drinking age is 18. "Best part is the or.Why don't you just google them or go to the store? "
For the first: one I might know some people that may know some people that sneak it through customs to gain extremely good price advantage from a 3rd world country. Sucks to be you, having to be legit and all.
The real question is what quality of liquor do you want or need. If you're just going to mix it you don't have to spend a lot of money. Somewhere between $20-40 American (I have no idea for other countries). If you're going to do shots $20-40 might work but the more expensive you get the better the liquor will taste. If you're going to drink it straight, out of a glass and not as a shot (so as an actual drink that isn't mixed) you'll want to get pretty expensive stuff. I'm able to drink a tequila (aha toro) straight and its price is between $50-80 but it certainly is the best liquor out there. Just follow the rule of thumb; the more expensive the liquor the better the liquor will usually taste.
Just quick notes; never buy liquor that is in a plastic bottle or costs under $10.

it really depends....prices can vary depending on location, sometimes stupid taxes and the type of store you purchase from.....
" @Jayross said:hahahahahahaha. so true. And if you actually are over 21 and going for the vodka then why dont you already know lol. Im 17 and I know unfortunately" Note to mods: this is legal because I am either over 21 or live in a country where the drinking age is 18. If you're really looking to save money, just buy a fuckton of Dubra. Dubra is all you need to get drunk.
" @Sogeman said:Maybe so. Ive never personally bought liquor there, but a friend of mine got like a 2 liter bottle of rum for about 15 dollars on base one time."I assure you liquor isn't notably cheaper on military bases, it's tax free though. "
@UncleClassy said:"Oh great, let's give the people that handle the guns the cheap booze...
If you have access, buy liquor on a military base. Shit's cheap there man.

There is a thirty dollar bottle of apple vodka at my nearest liquor store. It's delicious and makes me forget my own name, which is a lot cheaper than normal brain damage. At the bar an apple kamikaze runs for four dollars. Sometimes the bartenders give me a tall glass to hear what I say when I'm drunk. I like apples.
If cost is a concern just get a jug of potters for liek $14 and mix with orange juice and you're set.
If you're not drinking it straight, than just make sure not to get any that is stored in a plastic bottle. You'll pay for that.
As others have said, it REALLY depends on your location. I also live in a state where the state sets the liquor prices and also taxes the hell out of liquor. But then again, the 750ml bottle of Morgan's original here is only like $15 or $20. Which is why I also go for the handle when buying the original. If I buy black label or Tattoo I buy the 750ml. There's a difference between private stock and guest stock :P
Prices are going to vary widely based on where you live. I live in a relatively low-middling population area, so I can get drink on the cheap.
My rules: never buy a drink in a bar that a five dollar bill won't cover. Never buy a bottle of anything <750ml that costs more than $25 unless it's good whiskey or scotch. Tequila in the summer also can be >$25, but only if it's a good brand and only if it's on sale. All vodka tastes the same--only the smoothness changes--so get the cheapest they have and don't be a pu...nk. Don't buy rum, ever. Don't buy anything you have to mix in order to make it drinkable.
" Note to mods: this is legal because I am either over 21 or live in a country where the drinking age is 18. "Lol'd.
Anyway, I'm like 98% sure alcohol is not illegal to discuss on the forums.
What are you, a chemist? I have no God damn idea how much 750 ml is. This is America, dammit! We buy our booze in handles or fifths, or even sometimes by the fucking jar, if you're swigging off a backyard still--not this commie "ml" bullshit.
