It is quite immature and single minded to say that swearing makes you sound stupid, all the time.  That assertion is just ridiculous - in every day, colloqial conversation, I can't say, "I went to the fucking store," to stress that I really went to the store, without sounding stupid?  Sheesh.  You don't have to sound academic all of the time.
