Gentlemen (Ladies too),
I fucking gained 35 pounds and no longer fit in my size 32 pants. I need a 34-36 now. I was 145 pounds and now I'm close to 180.
1. Cheese Steaks, I fucking missed America for these.
2. Cheese Cake, Japan has shitty cakes.
3. Bob Saget, that guy is hilarious and at night I sit at home and watch him.
4. Dragon Age, Borderlands, Uncharted 2, Modern Warfare 2, and Final Fantasy XIII (2 weeks bitches!)
Giant Bomb, help me loose weight so I can go back to fitting in my old pants. I gotta head back to Japan soon and I don't want to go back fitting the American Stereotype.
How can I loose 35 pounds in less than a month without causing damaging stuff to my body. I used to be fit, but lost it all so quick. :(
Happy Thanksgiving Bitches, go play some Borderlands and/or Dragon Age (both for PC).
I Gained 35 Pounds Since Going To Law School In USA (Help)
This thread reminds me that I need to lose more weight. I'm quickly approaching 140lbs and it's disgusting.
Man I could only wish I was putting on weight like you, I've been currently weight training for a few months and hoping to have packed on 20 lb's by december, I was around 162 and am now around 173-5.
Don't eat after 9 o'clock or so. Run three to four times a week and drink lots of water. Just a few tips. :)
In less that a month it will be quite hard, you could loose a lot it but you will gain weight quickly again. (Screws up your mentabolism)
I would reccomend researching a nutrition and fitness plan, you don't have to do insane workouts even if its a bit of cardio it will help.
Make your own food so you can portion what you eat.
" @yani said:a kids meal is bigger than the largest fast food size in japan :|"THE SMALLEST SIZE OF FAST FOOD HERE IS BIGGER THAN THE LARGEST IN JAPAN! I SHIT YOU NOT! It's so god damn big.... "
- Cut down on portion sizes (from experience American portions are massive)

"You won't lose 35 pounds but you will drop plenty of weight "
- Cut down on portion sizes (from experience American portions are massive)
- Don't snack!
- Stop eating carbohydrates
- No beer or fizzy drinks
- Try jogging (~15-20mins/day is plenty)
I find your language and lack of discipline unworthy for someone of academic stature, a law-student no less!
But really, loosing or gaining that much weight in such a short period of time is not healthy.
The advice that yani gave is the best by far.
I used to be 210 pounds about ten years ago, gaming and much ballyhoo down the pub were responsible for this.
You have to change your habits. Getting off the couch is the hardest part. One great joy of exercise is you can eat pretty much what you want, once you're burning it off. I finally did a marathon a few years ago. Most runners I met are serious foodies, so you can have it both ways, but you must get into a fitness regime.
Jogging seems like a drag, but once the first few weeks are over, I guarantee you'll love it. Getting over the initial awkwardness is one small hurdle. You'll feel better, and your brain will work better too. Do it in the morning, before breakfast. Don't give yourself time to talk yourself out of it. I promise you'll be glad you did.
" A hot girlfriend. Screw the damage..also. "We can't all live the dream. No matter how hard we try.

My house was over 2km away from the train station and both my school and work were about 15 minutes away from the closest station. I walked a lot in Japan and ran a lot too.

With a car and everything being so close in the suburbs, it makes things worse. :(
Well, I don't know.
You don't have to drive...
It's up to you to make the time and effort. I'm running out of answers.
I'd make a lousy life coach.
I don't know but remember this: Too much or too little of anything listed on the nutrition facts will kill you.
Too much fat? have fun with diabeetus. Too little fat? Dead. Too much protein? Dead. Too much Vitamin ABCDEFG? You start to see dead people, then you're dead.
Good luck
Losing weight is based on only one thing: Calories gained vs. Calories lost per day.
An average adult male uses 2000-2500 calories a day. Losing a "pound" in terms of conventional weight takes about 4000 calories. So losing 35 pounds in a month is rather unrealistic because you'll need to exercise 5 hours a day + don't eat.
If you want to lose something more reasonable, say 20 pounds, this will still require getting rid of 20x4000 = 80,000 calories, or about 2650 calories a day. This means that you will have to eat only about 1000 a day (a single Big Mac or Whopper is about 750 calories for comparison) plus about 3 hours of mild-medium exercise such as powerwalking.
If you had a greater time span I could give you better options, but in the current situation that's the best you can do.
Or, you know, liposuction.
You can lose the fat healthily if you're serious about it. Don't eat in the last 2-3 hours before you go to bed. Wake up, drink a lot of water first, and do some heavy cardiobefore you eat anything (very important), you don't need to put in more than 20-30 minutes, but you need to get yourself sweating, breathing hard, and hit your target heart rate. Don't eat a meal for at least an hour after your cardio.
You'll also need to do strength training (with weights if you have access to them, or you can do calisthenics/isometric excercises if you don't have weights). This is essential, as you're going to start burning fat with cardio, and turning the remaining fat into muscle with strength training. There are a number of fitness programs you can find online for free, just run some Googles.
When choosing foods, portion control is essential, as is limiting your fat and carb intake. In general, you want to eat about one fist-sized portion (don't overestimate, these are supposed to be small portions) each of carbs and protein (healthy protein like cottage cheese, chicken, or fish) about 6 times a day (every couple hours), and eat a portion of vegetables during at least half these meals. This will be the hardest part, but if you can train your body to eat smaller portions more often throughout the day, your metabolism will jump exponentially. You'll have a lot more energy (which will in turn help with your excercise regimen), and you'll be burning fat naturally and healthily.
Don't let the jokers discourage you, it can be done, but you'll really have to be serious and disciplined about it. Good luck!
I know, more Army stuff, but it really works. Do what we call CD 1 every morning before a workout (allow one day a week to recover, but still do this, at least) It's a set of warm-up stretches. Then move to CD 2. In this drill you'll do as many push-ups and sit-ups as possible in two minutes. With push-ups your body will most likely give in before the two minute mark (I'm assuming you don't do push-ups often) go to your knees and keep going. I know it's girly, but going to your knees is better than stopping. Then you'll rest for about 10 seconds (eventually stop resting) and repeat once or twice depending on how fit you are.
After a week of doing your own work out and these two drills, your ready for CD 3 which revolves around abs.
1) Timed sets of sit-ups- Do timed sets of sit-ups for 60-40-30 seconds each with no more then 30 seconds rest between sets. Adhere strictly to proper form described in FM 21-20. (3 sets minimum)
2) Flutter kicks – 3 sets of 50 –100 reps. (hand on your butt, head to your chest, kick your feet, keep your legs straight)
3) Hanging leg raises* – 3 sets of 50 – 100 reps. Start with legs bent work towards legs straight.
4) Incline sit-ups* 3-4 sets of 30 to 50 progressing to with weight as strength improves.
5) Flat bench leg raises* – 3-4 sets of 20 to 30.
*Exercise should be done very slowly to ensure a contraction is maintained throughout the repetition.
Before you go to bed, do 100 flutter kicks, 20 push-ups and 40 crunches. When you wake up, stretch for about 2 minutes.
And if you want to be hardcore, a lot of combat arms jobs use the rangers one-week training drill. However, most of this requires a pool.
Non of this stuff will break you immediately, but over time you'll feel it. I'll tell you first hand that doing this constantly will make you stronger and lose weight. We had a guy lose 40 pounds in the first 8 weeks, and lost 50 in the entire 16 weeks. I wasn't overweight going into these workouts either, but I somehow lost 25 pounds.
But running is imperative for your goal. Realistically run about 4 miles a week, about a mile every other day. Two weeks before you start that do 60, 120's. Run for 60 seconds straight as fast as possible, then walk for 120 seconds. That helps build endurance and constructs your body to be able to make a full run. Do 5 sets of running and increase as you see fit.
But remember to eat well, and maintain protein. Health foods are unfortunately expensive. NEVER drink soda EVER. During these weeks of working out drink water constantly, and keep hydrated. Grab a fucking Vitamin water when you get gas and go to Best Buy. Even when not exercising. You should practically never not be sipping on water. I drink about 10 glasses a day average. Also, we always worked out before we ate. I'm not sure how much that helps. Also, sense you have a lot of fat you can turn that into muscle easier than losing it. At least that's how it is for most people.
I dropped about 12lbs over the summer and it took jogging four days a week and eating better. More lean protein, fiber, fruits and veggies. You would be surprised at how cheap it actually is to eat healthy. I live very well off $40 worth of food a week. Healthy foods are usually all natural, which it also a plus. Avoid regular consumption of fast food and and too much salt and sugar.
Why are you asking fro nutritional info on a gaming website .... most people here think chocolate is a vegetable
Can it be that nobody, on a gaming website, has said "Buy Wii Fit" ?! :o
Seriously though, I wish I could help, I was on the heavy side as a tiny kid and then I got diabetes and lost an insane amount of weight so mine was kinda the "easy way".
But you could probably start living the way I have to (I do sin a little around christmas time though :P) by getting a good amount of training in and eating right (whatever that means)
There's not really a whole lot I can say since I have no idea how.
But apparantly the way I'm forced to live is "healthy" so look stuff like that up.
Except maybe don't inject yourself with insulin, that would probably be dangerous if you're not diabetic, haha
You don't wanna lose 35 pounds in a month, slow and steady keeps the weight off. If you do it super fast, one, you'll damage your body, two, you'll have a damn hard time keeping the regiment up, so you'll gain the weight back. Go see a dietitian.

" Eating right starts with making your own food. You have to make time for that. I don't care what regime you're on, if you're still living off fast food you're gonna be a fatass. "
True, making his own food will certainly help, but I'm guessing this angel is inept in the kitchen.
@Kaos
Eat more Ramen, you should have taste for it now. You could buy and use a few low fat ingredients to add flavour to it. Avoid snacking out on crap, eat fresh fruit to help prevent those snack urges, and aid the diet with some form of exercise. You should lose it in no time.
The portion sizes in the US are comical to most European's I was astounded when I capped eyes on them in Las Vegas, which is the only place I've been to in the US.

Stop playing so many damn video games and eating crap. Run A LOT every day. Get your ass in shape by working for it.
My humble advice:).
I lost 20 pounds in the last 6 weeks, basically just doing a few things.
-Walking everywhere i possibly can.
-Not snacking.
-Eating the same shit i've always eaten, but just less of it. (if i have a burger for lunch, i'll have a salad for dinner or vice versa)
-I got an exercise bike in my living room and try to use it while playing videogames as much as i can (30-45 min a day a few days a week). Sometimes I don't want to be biking while i'm playing modern warfare 2, but if i'm playing something that doesn't require crazy percision... it's pretty good.
Granted, I was 220, and i'm down to 200, so i have more weight to lose... but it's a start. I need to get MORE on the bike and start doing more exersice. Feels good to be down a pants size though! Good luck!

Some of the cheese cakes I've had in small coffee shops around the city (Osaka, but I'm sure Tokyo is the same) are the best I've ever had. Simple, elegant, and delicious.
Go do some cardio. 20-40 minutes every day of whatever cardio exercise you like best over a little time should shave those pounds off nicely. Also, watch what you eat, but don't starve yourself. Not sure if it'll all burn off in one month, but you'll see progress.
