 watching Sam Dunn's 2008 documentary "Global Metal" got me real interested in foreign metal.. i really dug the Chinese shit by a band called Tang Dynasty 
 
Edit: dude that was pretty good.. i hated EVERYTHING japanese ive ever laid eyes on, no racism but i find their culture and language revolting. japanese metal just broke the rule it seems :D

Ah I found them after watching Death Note. Next listen to Mad Capsule Markets (not quite metal but amazing) and Balzac.

   MTH is pretty cool. Personally, Boris is my favorite Japanese metal band

I can't believe Maximum The Hormone tries to blend a somewhat a capable metal/punk crossover genre with nu-metal. Personally it sounds annoying. 

Boris is cool though. Also Coffins, Corrupted, Gallhammer, and X Japan.
