" Any show on VH1 or MTV sucks, so no. It's MUSIC television, but every show is just "Hoes! Boobs! Sex! Guys! Reality! Drama!" Where the hell is my music >:O! "Not now, then.

Huh?
Still music channels were ridiculous concepts. Record companies paid thousands up to a million dollars to make videos, that are pretty much the equivilant of ads. Then people watched it, even though they could easily listen to their own songs on cd's or cassette tapes(and in some parts of the world - vinyl). Since there lacked a fixed structure, what you watched could easily entail a night of watching bands you yourself didn't like. Which is pretty much what happened to Headbangers Ball, the amount of diversification of metal and also the rise of the internet led to the discovery of said diversed genre, made the decade later iteration seem hollow as it became impossible to please the current metal market.
While they were interesting concepts, I don't see why people stuck around for hours through crappy music when they could easily turn on their walkmen, and go about their day. Just my opinion tho.
Well I posted because the other guy didn't seem to know about Pop-Up Video and used the MTV/VH1 doesn't show music defense. Apologies, I took it as a bit of nostalgia, which just baffled me. Sorry for the assumption.

I didn't have cable when the original headbangers ball came out, though I did watch the occassional Beavis and Butthead episode when I was my cousins house back then. Though the only time I remembered having an enjoyable time with music channel was IMX on MuchMusic/Fuse. You got some sense of actual reward for predicting trends. And also, watching a random episode of Subterranean on MTV, which they interviewed Beck and I discovered Sea Change had been release. Prior to that, my amount spent watching music channels were pausing for a bit while channel surfing if an attractive girl was on, but I am only man...
yes, i remember the show. it was great back in the day. i miss when MTV and VH1 use to play music. now at least what i have found was that MTV usually puts music videos on at like 6am. all they play is rap, hip hop, r & B. now i've noticed that the music in the back ground they usually show the artist and song and when credit roll on shows they show like a second of music. it isn't enough music. i don't care about the music that they play because it just sucks.
