I want to build a website

Hey dudes,

I decided I want to learn HTML and CSS for shits and giggles, would anyone have some advice on resources that could help me out here? I have found some options but would like some good references before I waste any time/money on a bad training application.

Codecademy's a good starting point, no doubt.
http://javascriptissexy.com/how-to-learn-javascript-properly/ is a great resource once you've gotten the hang of basic HTML/CSS. I highly recommend his outline for topics to study.

You can check out the Mozilla Developer Network, they have a CSS getting started guide. They also HTML documentation, plus a lot more.

CSS Tricks has a great collection of snippets, references and blog posts, with live examples.

Some people don't like it, but there is the W3Schools that can be used for reference and you can view and alter their demos.

SitePoint offers HTML and CSS references.

Thanks for the info guys and gals. I've already had some fun playing around with the basics.

another good source I found is http://learncss.tutsplus.com/ which looks good for people like myself, who have never written a line of code in there lives.
