Recently, myself and a few friends messed about on Turntable's website, my first time. It was there that I was introduced to this, dubstep, as you kids are calling it.
That was 7 days ago, my collection is now in the hundreds. I can't stop myself. I need you guys to suggest your favorites.
This song isn't dubstep, but electro house. I have to plug it though because I love it.
And to keep within what you actually requested, here is a dubstep song I enjoy.
There have been quite a few threads on this though, if I remember correctly. Try running a search for dubstep in the forum search and I'm sure you'll pull up a detailed thread with plenty of songs.
You cant fathom how much I fucking hate dubstep, techno or anything else that sounds like robots having rough sex.
BUT....
I have heard one song that is just completely awesome. Great lyrics, great feel, and the dubstep is just there for effect in the background just like it should be.
This was an educational thread for me. This is the first time I ever listened to any dubstep. I hear the GB guys talking about it all the time on the Bombcast but I was never motivated to listen to any. I had a reasonable idea of what it must sound like from their discussions and I figured I wouldn't like it. Well, from the examples above, Rudyftw's was pretty good and I really liked OhdK2's video although that was more about the how perfectly the special effects matched the sound effects/music. The rest was rather annoying and the OT's song made me turn it off as soon as that crap kicked in at the :50 second mark. "Robot sex" That's a pretty good description of what it sounded like to me. Dirty, seedy, shameful fetishist-sex which takes an industrial solvent to clean up afterwards...but in music form.
Thanks guys. And to the haters of dubstep, it isn't the only thing I listen to. I actually prefer classical music over anything else, but this is a nice diversion.
i never got into dubstep. i've always referred to it as "clownstep," because that's what it is. nowadays you have chodes like skrillex and massive amount of broski douche bags buying into that dipshit's "music." the dubstep people tried getting me into during the 90's is the stuff by roni size. he's talented but, like i said, i'm not into that stuff. LTJ bukem is another dude people tried having me listen to.

God, I hate that song... and you couldn't turn on the radio without hearing it.

There's plenty of respectable bass music and dubstep available out there, and sadly, also a lot of annoying shite.
Other good producers are - Appleblim, Pearson Sound / Ramadanman, Pangea. Less wub-wub, more musical craftsmanship. I like my dubstep / bass to be a bit more amorphous, dropped with some good house/techno.

This - and there's lots of older stuff that really nails what I think is the essence of dubstep (not just the bass drop wub wub wubs). Stuff like Kromestar or Skream or Digital Mystikz which really shows dubstep's dub roots.
Newer stuff that takes dubstep in interesting directions (for me anyway) is Sepalcure, SBTRKT, Guido or Scuba.
My favourite dubstep producer is probably Skream. I love Burial, but I don't listen to him because it's dubstep, in a lack of a better way of saying it.
But I guess you know about the biggest names since you have hundreds of songs. Check out: - Habstract - Brown and Gammon - Monstar - Subfocus
I don't know how big any of them are but I like them. Also check out the genre moombahton. Dillon Francis and Munchi are great artists.
Are you on Spotify? Here's a short list of some good dubstep tunes. General list of artists: Skrillex, Nero, Dubba Jonny, Burial (sort of minimal dubstep).
Really dislike the current dubstep trends and when I say that I'm specifically focusing on the music itself not its mainstream success.
The over use of loud obnoxious wobble bass, and the lack of anything sounding remotely like 2 step garage and darkcore just doesn't appeal to me. Dubstep from the very late 90's, early 2000's was really the period I enjoyed as its roots really shone through and as the genre was just forming there was a lot of experimentation being done. I completely believe that taste is personal and everyone should be allowed to listen to whatever they want, so I'm not trying to lecture anyone here, life is too short for that.
Nowadays I occasionally listen to the odd record, those are mostly from artists such as; Burial, Benga, Mala and Digital Mystiks, but its always very hit and miss for me. Heres some examples of some fairly recent releases that I kinda like the sound of:
Some garage and jungle influences there, but when I'm in the mood I'm not opposed to some slightly darker tracks:
It still has a mellow tone compared to some of the stuff listed here ha ha, but each to there own.
Like half of this guys uploads, mostly because the stuff he finds that isn't pure wobbles is just great. But out of all tracks this would right now be my favorite it is just very nice in combining smooth wobbles with great vocals and some nice pianos as well.

Dude, just because a song has synths in it, it does not mean it's dubstep.
