Well it kind of depends on what you like. Don't know what you would think of stuff like Eurkea Seven or Soul Eater as they may be too much like those "Saturday Morning Cartoons" you refer to. Some of my personal favorites (besides soul eater and eureka seven) are Cowboy Bebop (an obvious choice), Elfen Lied (if you like a lot of violence and nudity in your anime), Clannad (if you like emotional/comedy series), FLCL (if you like weird stuff), and Welcome to the NHK (depressing, weird, and a little emotional). Since it's around halloween time and you may be up for some horror/gore you could always check out the Higurashi stuff (When They Cry), Another, or Blood-C. Don't know if any of that will help, but there are at least some shows.

I remember Perfect Blue.. that movie was fucking weird..

@MB: I only remembered today when I was looking up something Anime related and was like 'oh yeah AnimeVice'.. it looks a little quiet over there though..

Satoshi Kon is a master of creating completely surrealist psychological thrillers in a way I am very into. It's a shame he passed on when he did, but his things like Paparika and Perfect Blue are still outstanding pieces of film which you should rewatch. I did a lot of my MA thesis on posthumanism in sci-fi animation, so I'll talk to you if you want to.

Yeah we tend to know a thing or two about anime, despite Jeff's opinion on the matter.

Only seen Paprika and hated it. So, no I guess? I do, however, like more than 'Saturday morning cartoons' as you put it.
