I know it's legal to brew if you're over 21, because my dad did it and taught me how, and I DON'T live in a dry county, but I'm only 18 years old. I know it's illegal to purchase and consume alcohol, but can I brew my own beer? As long as I'm not caught drinking it.
Is it legal to brew your own beer?
If its illegal to consume or buy alcohol at your current age in whichever country you live in then i imagine it would be illegal to be in possession of alcohol too. I suggest you consult a local authority on the question and see what they do, if they arrest you on suspicion of doing something illegal then i guess you have your answer.
Well the thing is, my dad used to brew his own beer until i was about 12 years old, and I helped him do it sometimes(he never let me drink more than a sip). So I remember how to do it, and it's pretty easy. I can't find anything on the internet that says I can't. And no I'm not moving to Canada.
not sure, but i think it is if youre of legal drinking age and if you dont sell it or give it to minors.
"I don't live in a dry county, but I'm only 18 years old. I know it's illegal to purchase and consume alcohol, but can I brew my own beer?"I would bet my left testicle that it is illegal, in fact it is illegal even in places where you CAN drink because you can:
- end up intoxicating yourself with fumes and dying
- Making beer with a very high alcohol content and dying
- Since when brewing you produce highly flammable fumes and you would most likely be brewing in a basement or a shed causing a massive explosion

Alcohol has to pass a certain set of regulations in order to be deemed safe for public consumption, I very much doubt whatever home brew you produce will meet these regulations, so it will most likely be unsafe and illegal. Also I quite doubt that you even know how to brew alcohol correctly considering that you are asking for advice in a gaming forum and said you were 18 years old (so I worry from the safety of others POV you do have the right to kill yourself as stupidly as possible but I worry about people who might live with or near you). If you had actual knowledge you would be brewing it already or could have asked whoever taught you about alcohol if it was legal to make your own home brew and proper directions for doing it.
I am not being dick, you are just being an insecure brat against someone who took the time of telling you that every idea that crosses your head is not a good one and you should perhaps consider that. Also you did not bring up childhood memories, I am chemist you brought up basic security memories and safety procedures on a chemical procedure that is beer brewing.
Sorry I misread that you lived in a dry country, if you feel like taking personal offense to what I said fine, but what you are saying is simply not a good idea and all I'm saying is that its dangerous and you should reconsider. If you read down a little, you would have seen that I do know how to brew beer. My dad brewed his own beer most of my life and he taught me how. And I know that if you're over 21 it's legal as long as you don't sell it. There is nothing in it that could possibly harm anyone. There is no toxic fumes(or any fumes at all), it cannot explode(beer is 5% alcohol). Since it is legal for anyone that DOES NOT live in a dry county to brew beer, I just wanted to know if I could since I'm under 21. I can't find anything on the internet that says you can't, as long as you're not caught consuming it, and you don't sell it...

Not if you're under 21. If you're 21 it's fine. But then again, in your own home it's not relevant that it isn't legal, no one will see you.
You can buy home brew beer kits in lots of places.
Don't know if you have places like it but there a few places around me that let you make your own beer there (or wine,) you can make some killer stuff (but if you're under 21 that's a no-go.) There are many do-it-yourself-micro-breweries around the US that let you make your own.
Or, like I said, a home microbrewers kit. It isn't hard at all, and not dangerous in the slightest. Just google "Home brewing," lots of good kits for sale.
Or if you're between 17 and 20 you could skip all of this nonsense and do what everyone used to do when I was that age, get a fake ID.
You can brew it because you could always say the alcohol isn't meant for human consumption and say it's for alcohol fueled cars.
ahahah I am sure it is illegal but I doubt you will get cought if your only drinking at home.
dude, go for you life.
Who cares? how are you gonna get caught? One of my friends brews his own alcohol in his room and his parents don't even know....
well like i said I'm in college, i already know how to do it, I don't need one of those kits, it's much easier than that. The reason is that the landlord for the apartment comes and checks out our room every once in a while and he would probably see it. I think i'll just do it... And I don't need a fake, I'm in a fraternity with over 40 guys that are over 21. Home Brew tastes better.

And dude, dont worry ffs if making beer privately for yourself isnt allowed that extremely fucked.
So have fun ;)
idk here i think drinking underage is the person who provides you the alcohol's fault but if you provide yourself with the alcohol?!? actually i'm also sure that here if your parents allow you and under their "supervision" or something like that you are allowed to drink underage. no idea about USA OR brewing
It varies by state, but I'd guess the laws would say something like "manufacture, sell, dispense, supply, purchase, possess" alcohol. One reason is so when the cops bust a party, nobody can use that "I was just holding it for a friend" excuse and they can give you a hefty fine, making more revenue for them.
The tricky part is that homebrew kits are legal because it isn't alcohol yet, it's just the parts to do it (the gov't must have figured people would buy the parts separately anyways - lots of illegal drugs are made with household items and you can't be arrested just for buying that 1 component). But once it's fermented or whatever then it's illegal because you're manufacturing and possessing it.
"lol @ people who live in countries where you can vote and own guns before you can drink."And sadly, go into a war to be killed. I think it should be 18 across the board, because that's when they declare you an adult (unless you, as a minor, commit crimes, then you can be tried as an adult, and I've read cases where 13 year olds are tried as one)
