I know there are some boxes (whatever they're called) you can buy to do this. But I just have a PC running Linux, a PS3 and an Xbox 360. So is there a way to do what I want using only what I have?

You can download videos and stream them over using either the PS3 or the 360. You could probably also trick your computer into thinking it's a Boxxee Box, maybe? I dunno.

Yeah I've been doing that. But I want to stream it directly from lés interwebs. I guess I'll google your idea of making my PC think it's a Boxxee Box. Thanks!

If your PC is capable of being connected to the television then installing Boxee is one of the best ways I've found (heavy Linux user as well) Quick Link to Download.

I use Rivet on my laptop and stream downloaded videos to my 360 all the time. It is the main way that I watch old TV shows and movies.

I use a jailbroken AppleTV with XBMC to do this.

@guiseppe: I'd recommend installing Boxee. Our app on there is pretty stellar and it's a super easy installation process.

I watch most of my GB content through the PS3 browser. It's an ugly workaround, and it's SD, but it works. If you turn off Javascript (Triangle -> Javascript -> Off) then the video player will show up on any page with a video. If you want to watch subscriber videos, turn on javascript, log in, then turn it back off, as apparently it needs javascript to log in.

I still find this better than watching on a small PC screen or waiting to download the file and then streaming it, unless it's a PC quick look and I actually care about the texts.

EDIT: Boxee by PC requires connecting an HDMI cable, fyi.

You could also just plug your computer/phone into the HDMI port on your tv, radioshack sells a cable for it.

Unfortunately my apartment is set up so that dragging an HDMI cable from my PC to my TV would not be possible. Well it would be, but the length required would be too expensive for me. Still, I thank you all for your response.
