So after a bunch of seriously disappointing interviews. I started applying for jobs in the only field that I have any working experience in, which saddens me but also the thought of actually having a job is exciting. Since I quit my last job I have been searching for jobs that are nothing like that one. That one being Baking. I have almost no interest in baking. But while applying to many different places this week it seems like the only people who are remotely interested in me are Bakeries.

Like I walked in to safeway and started talking to the people working in the bakery, I told them that I was a baker and asked if they had any positions. Within 5 minutes I was in a back room speaking with the manager of the bakery.

I also went to a locally owned cupcake shop and the manager there seemed pretty excited to tell the owner about me.(granted that manager is also a friend of my mothers.)

Those are currently my most interesting prospects. As much as I hate the idea of being a baker again.

I feel your pain.

Companies only seem to be interested in hiring me for sales jobs. I really don't want to deal with customers and sales targets anymore.

Hey, not many people get to say "yo, I'm a baker". I think you're pretty rad.

well that sucks.

working at a place you hate sucks. right now i am working at a grocery store. for some reason they have me work the later shifts. i don't mind it too much pushing carts, i sometimes bag people's stuff. i hate customer service jobs, sometimes they are assholes.

haha thanks. I didn't really ask to become a baker, it kind of landed in my lap. I got trained to make bread from scratch and did that for about a year. Then, in hindsight I either decided that I had been working at the same place for 5 years(I started out as a dishwasher) and needed a change or that I didn't want to be a baker until I die. So I quit. Now I realize that I probably gave up the biggest opportunity I have ever had in my life.

Nothing wrong with being a baker and making bread. Very few do it and a job is a job.

Something not everyone can be blessed with.

As I grow older I realize how much truer this becomes.

I feel so much worse for quitting. I hope someday I will have the stones to apologize to my boss. If it weren't for him I would have no marketable skills.

Tell your boss then. Just do it, I'm sure he'd appreciate it.

worst part is his son is one of my child hood best friends. we still talk on steam from time to time but it hasn't been the same since I quit. I guess I should start by apologizing to him. But I don't think I will be able to do it until I get a proper job. I still resent him for being born more well off than I was. That probably makes me an ass but as long as I am unemployed I cant look either of them in the face. I guess its pride or some other bullshit.

@Devil240Z: Swallow it. The bigger man admits his faults and accepts life for what it is. He's your childhood friend, don't lose that. Email me, text him, or Steam chat with him right now. Make up for all the loss.

Do it.

I will, I promise, but not tonight. Its been a long ass night. I need sleep. My girlfriend and I just got done telling each other our deepest and darkest secrets tonight. I cant do anymore emotional shit right now. Anyway, God I love that woman. But now I need to sleep.

Also, long time no see Kaos! Glad to have you back.

Beggars can't be choosers. Best of luck on getting either of those jobs. My semester just ended so I'm going to be looking for work myself.

This seems such an easy solution to me. You have a skill in Baking so do that to pay the bills, rent, run car etc so you're secure and not unemployed. In your spare time put those hours in to learning a new skill for a job you really want to do.

Once you have learnt that new skill through using the internet, going to workshops on the subject, one on one tuition if it's that kind of skill and any other way that will help you learn that skill, then it's time. It's time to look for jobs in something you really want to do. Keep the dream alive and you will be fine.

Taking that baking job is the first step.
