Ok I've been scrolling the internet for some time tonight and I've gotten so sick of reading comments made by people with no clue. One topic that really bugs me is everyone who is an "emo" hater. Before you say anything I once was what people call an "emo" and a update for thoughts who don't know. Emo- slang for emotional. Not all "emo" kids follow that god forbidden style. A correct term for this is self mutilation/cutting. Not all "emo's" cut thinking that everyone hates them, or for attention, but for relief from something they feel they can't control on their own. Not all cut their wrists 1 out of 500 "emo's" cut with thoughts of suicide. And another big thing is not all cut in depression some it's just stress. Now the point of this thread is to vent because after quitting 1 year ago I read nasty things aimed at "emo" kids online such as "You already cut, if you really want to kill yourself then do it already we're sick of waiting..." words like that just piss me off. If you can speak like that to someone whether you know them or not whether you like them or not you're just being stupid and should ask yourself what you would feel like if people constantly harassed you like that. Another topics that gets me is bullying in schools. Oh I swear this is the generation of jerks. I can't believe the amount of kids who get bullied let alone the ones who bully. Then if parents get contacted it's always. "oh no, my kid would never do such a thing" well people OPEN your eyes because obviously your kid just did so that. I understand you don't want to believe your kid would but maybe you need to observe a little better. Well I'm going to stop because I'm getting heated up, and I'm tired so I bet I'll wake up tomorrow and regret this whole thing. But I hope at least one person sees my point..... Night.
Just blowing of steam.....
I imagine using the term "goth" might be a bit better? Or would that just be draping a blanket over the issue and pretending we've solved it? (Don't ask why I thought a fucking blanket would solve the issue. It was the first thing that came to mind.)

I thought this was related to Steam. :(
As did I. Massively disappointed.
I know right. Misleading title.

If only this had been a story about a woman's steamy affair with an Armenian boxer.
Or, a woman ''blowing'' steam.

I didn't know "emo kids" still existed. I thought that died off circa 2007.
Well, I can tell you that boys still wear tight-fitting girl pants. Why, I have no idea.
Yo you should probably chill. There are a lot of people here with different beliefs and interests. Im not sure if youre referring to other places on the internet or not but if you are, you should know that the internet is filled with many stupid teenagers that are trying to find their place in life and they think that their opinion is right. You shouldnt get too caught up with what a bunch of random assholes have to say.
I agree with the thread title, this blowing of steam is justified.
Except I don't think you can expect every regular person to be a psychologist. If one person's engraving their body parts and another person thinks it's a sign of depression: ONE of those isn't acting in accordance with social norms.
Now here's a stress relieving tip: If you see someone being dumb on the internet, don't feel helpless in that you can't change them, find pity (or even levity) in that they'll never be changed. It's a lot less aggravating.
I always wonder what people do to convince themselves that a thread like this would be a good idea. I imagine they get to the point that they think people will respond "You know what, you are totally correct" and then a round of applause would follow.

You should give Steam a chance before you just blow it off like that.
yeah I thought this was going to be a post about ripping of valve somehow
I don't understand how cutting would relieve stress. All the jokes aside; yes, bullying is shitty. But you're not doing yourself any favors with this post.

Hell, I'd blow steam if it meant Half Life 3 coming out.
There are bullies now, there were bullies when I went to school in the 90s, hell, on his podcast, Pen Jillette talked about being bullied in the 60s when he was in school, so no, this isn't the "generation of bullies". We just happen to have a half-dozen 24-hour media machine that despretely needs something controversial and shocking to lure in viewers, but in reality, nothing's changed.
FIST BUMP ME, BRO!What did Emo do to anyone? I really liked him in Home Movies.

Douglas Adams would have been proud of your solution.
Bullying has and always will be around it's not worse or better than it's ever been. Just now kids don't know how to handle it because they spend all day on their computers not interacting with people in real life.
@Blackbutterflys:If you're dumb enough to think that then you may as well think very carefully about not just your life but where you choose to share your views. The best thing to do is always talk to your friends. Resorting to the internet average goober for advice is the wrong way to go about things.

Glad we have an accurate scientist! Also who cares about bullying? I think we have bigger things to worry about... in some cases its even good for the kids. Also your post is retarded and you have no point. Here's what I read:
"not all emo's are the same! and Bully's are bad!"

Like all the medical terms
Emo is a medical term?
I meant like ADHD or asperger being tossed around or often being diagnosed in huge percentages. It's more of a similar common belief, rather than a concrete definition when people address others. Sorry for being unclear.

At first I found this point ridiculous, not that it can't be true but the thought process behind it. But then I remember that I smoke when I get stressed sometimes, which is equally as asinine.
