" this console launched in 2001 was the first to have a built in hard drive and broadband connection?". So of course I answer the Xbox. Nope, the fucking card says the GameCube.
Fuck you trivial pursuit card writer!

well the gamecube did come out before the xbox. same year but earlier. so it was technically the first to have those things right?
Did your Gamecube have a harddrive? Mine sure as hell didn´t. As for online, you needed some weird nintendo like addon adapter to play Phantasy Star online and the other few games that had online modes.

According to this secret awesome website I know of called GiantBomb, the Xbox came out 3 days before the GameCube.

The GameCube had zero online functionality though right, so why would it need that? You could play Phantasy Star Online. I think those might be the only online games.
it was a 56k modem

That's goddamn rough, man. I've ran into situations like that with trivia games before and it's an absolute bitch trying to convince the people you're playing with that no, you're right, the asshole who fact-checked the question is wrong.
Hopefully someone else could back your claim and secure dat wedge.

I'm pretty sure the Gamecube had neither of those things built in. Online required an adapter, and I've never heard of a hard drive for it. In short, fuck Trivial Pursuit.
Here's the Online Adapter's instruction booklet, as found through Wikipedia.
Can't find even a tiny internal hard drive in the specs. No hard drive.

Actually there was both a Broadband adapter & a 56k Modem adapter. Neither was built in, though. I seriously considered getting a Broadband adapter for Mario Kart... but it was like $100, and I was 13.
