Men's magazines and my wife

I have a subscription to playboy and maxim and my brother in law thinks that it's disrespectful to my wife.  But I only have these magazines for the articles.  Does anyone agree with me that I'm not being disrespectful?  I really want him to shut up about it.

Even though I don't have a sub to Playboy, I heard that their articles are very good.

Ask her how she feels and not post a thread on a gaming website? (Granted it's off-topic I understand. It's just the answers you might receive...) I, for one, think it's a bit disrespectful. But it could also be a good thing if you get your wife into the act.

This is between you and your wife.  You should discuss it between yourselves.  I personally wouldn't keep them around, but every relationship varies and I'm not one to pass judgement for an issue such as this.

Tell your brother in law to shut the fuck up and mind his own business. If your wife has a problem with it then she should tell you about it herself. I honestly have no fucking idea why you would seriously read those for the articles (I have suspect you're a joke account) but that's your prerogative.

Fuck that!  Playboy has incredible articles, man!  Their 20Q section is a definite must-read, their investigative reports are incredibly interesting, and of course, the interviews.  Dood, I'll never forget how fucking awesome their interview with John Malkovich was.  Very seldom does that man get to talk about his love for Dr. Dre's music, but in Playboy, he can talk 'til the cows come home.  They have incredibly in-depth interviews.  Yeah, there's nude chicks, which is fucking awesome as well.  That's what makes it the greatest mag on the planet...most of the time.  They, like every other magazine, DO have shitty issues.  Nonetheless, it's usually good most of the time.  Unfortunately, they've had a serious lacking of celebrities willing to pose, which kind of sucks.

I've often wondered why Playboy doesn't offer a "Just the Articles" issue. They do have some really good stuff nestled in between the T and A.

Tell them you subscribed to EGM, and they sent Maxim to you to replace EGM. (This happened to me, I've got six issues to Maxim to make up for there being no more EGM). Curse your bad luck but say its wasteful not to read it.

I think this is a non-issue. Regardless of why you have the magazines in your possession, looking isn't cheating. Your brother-in-law needs to get out of the convent for a while.

If it is really only for the articles then you aren't being disrespectful to your wife, but this is definitely an issue you should talk to her about and discuss.

Did you ever stop to think that when your wife sees you looking at these pictures that she feels inadequate?  Who wants to come home and see their spouse looking at other people of the opposite sex?  It is disrectful, but I also don't care what you do.  Oh and saying you read Maxim and Playboy for the articles is a lie.  You have to realize that if you're doing something that may anger your wife, her brother will probably be upset by it.

Even if you saw the erotic photos, your wife shouldn't give a crap anyway. That kind of repression is just harmful.

I've never read a Playboy except for that amazing John Lennon interview from 1980...and if every article is like that then I see no problem in believing you actually have it for the articles.

It is disrespectful to her considering the images of naked/near naked women make all women out to be objects. 

I could never believe that any guy ever subscribes to those magazines just for the articles. I don't think that's humanly possible for the male gender. Besides, you can probably just as easily find similar articles online for free... so why pay for them? Admit it, it's for the ladies.

I'm thinking either you're pretty open about it or she doesn't like it and has complained to her brother about it. I think the ideal thing to do here would be to have an honest talk with your wife about it. If she says she doesn't like it or it makes her uncomfortable at anything, do the right thing and donate them to me.   ;)

You can find porn easier online compared to that exact playboy article, unless you download a scan of the magazine. Seriously its fucking playboy not some hardcore porn magazine.

I don't think it's disrespectful even if you aren't just looking at the articles. Lots of men look at other chicks in magazines. Just like men masturbate even when we have a significant other. I think it's because of our balls or something. lol. But if you truly are looking at articles and nothing more, there should be no problem with it. BUT it all depends on what your wife thinks. You should talk to her about it because she's really the only one who can tell you whether it's "disrespectful" or not. Even if her brother says it is (much like he would if you tell him what you do with your wife, let's be real. I'm a brother too and I'm protective. lol), if SHE says it's cool then it's cool. You should definitely stop it. Even if she's fine with it, this Brother-in-law obviously isn't, and if you have any hope of not being hated in her family, you should stop.

Also: reading and subscribing to Playboy just for the articles is a joke, and it's still pretty bad.

I have plenty of things that people would consider disrespectful, but my girlfriend really dosen't care. It's up to her to decide, not anyone else. I don't see the problem though.
