Most 90's Thing You'll See in a While: Atari Jaguar Infomercial

Our protagonist is captured by freaks that try to brainwash him into buying the Atari Jaguar. 30 minute horror short tries to get you to do some math (or is that meth?) and to convince that with Jaguar you too will get laid.

Thanks for introducing me to this gem. I only remember the commercials; never knew there was a full infomercial.

At around 6-7 minutes, that host is starting to go a little nuts and seems like he is trying to be Jim Carey. Doesn't help that he kind of looks like him with the shitty video quality.

The best part about that moment is when he asks, "So are you gonna buy a Jaguar now?" and the kid's says , "eehhh, nnnnhhhaaahh". Then "Jack" goes Napoleon Dynamite on him.

Ugh I could only make it like a minute in. Host seems to be imitating Bill Murray in some horrible horrible way.

EDIT: I think the horrible horrible way is the infusion of 90's attitude.

I wish there were weird infomercials for every system...doubt they would be this good though.

Quick question, why did bits matter?

I had to take breaks while watching this. It was a constant struggle of enjoyment and revulsion.

Also, it was the perfect way to market consoles back then.

@thebunnyhunter: It was a rough indication of processing power. More bits means larger chunks can be processed and higher memory addresses could be reached. 8-bit system could handle up to 256, 16-bit up to 65536, 32-bit up to 4294967296 and so on.

@charlie_victor_bravo: A good example is just 2^x x=bits.

I like how Doom was their example of "awesome 3D graphics." Oh, those were the days.

If Atari paid to have me kidnapped and yelled at by a crazy guy, I would buy one too!

I don't think any of this can quite match up to the Lynchian insanity that was the Saturn promo videos.

I JUST watched last night the TV pilot for Zombieland, where he played Tallahassee. Never seen him before it, so it was weird to immediately recognize him watching this.

I felt the exact same way. As soon as I saw him I kept thinking that he was the guy in the Zombieland pilot. This is so weird.

This all comes full circle when he picks to play White Men Can't Jump, based on the film starring Woody Harrelson. I say that because the crazy Atari guy goes on to play Harrelson's part in the Zombieland tv show.

Oh, that goddamn controller.
