On the whole no, not really. But I do like a good blast of Chinese mustard whenever I get takeout.

I like spicy when it adds flavor. I stay away from anything that claims to be "the hottest" because they're just adding heat and not taste.

In moderation, I really like spicy stuff. I had some pretty spicy ramen noodles for lunch four days in a row and it made me more violently ill than I've ever been in my entire life though, so lately I've been trying to avoid spicy stuff a bit.

I love spicy food; I seem to have a higher threshold for it than a lot of people I know. If I'm out with my girlfriend's family at a Chinese restaurant, I'll usually get a bunch of freshly cut chili in soy to put on whatever I'm having, just to pep it up.

However, I made a curry on the weekend that was maybe just the wrong side of being hard work to eat, so there is still such a thing as too much in my books.

I love spicy food. I put  sriacha sauce on EVERYTHING. I realize its not spicy in the run of things with only a 2200 scoville rating, but that's the minimum of heat that I eat.

Love spicy.  If you're not sweatin' while devouring Thai food you're doing it wrong imo.

However, there is a point where the hot obscures taste and just becomes pain.  Not good. It's a fine line.

For me though, only Thai can push that envelope; every other genre of hot food just seems tasty to me.

Maybe it's because of where I grew up and the food I ate, but I love spicy food. Unfortunately most of the food that other people or restaurants consider spicy is bland to me. I tend to like it much hotter than most people can handle. Plus, a little wasabi or Chinese mustard is the perfect cure for a stuffy nose or headache.

I like a bit of spicy kick in my food, but nothing two crazy. To much spice can become overbearing and makes the rest of the meal gross.

I hate the runny nose, but spicy food does clear out your sinuses. I think if I gave it thought, it's just a matter of how spicy and if in public. Clearing out the sinuses is an excellent way of preventing a sinus infection to which I am prone. i just would not want to be doing it if appearances matter

But spicy food rocks!

I really enjoy spicy food, but only to a point. I like it for flavor, I don't give a shit about how "hot" it is. Just give me some Cholula to drip on my food and I'm good.

I like spicy as long as it doesn't completely destroy all other flavors and you taste nothing but stinging.

Great way to deal with colds, flus, sinus stuff is to burn it out with hot food & drinking water or if possible booze, stuff that will spread the heat more versus things like milk to dampen it. Have regular amounts of spicy hot foods when getting a cold & will probably leave sooner, at least for me it does. Great job too at just keeping you warm in colder temperatures & cooling you off in warmer temperatures.

Depends on what kind of spice it is.  I can get behind a general tso's kind of sweet spicy, but forget that Franks Red Hot kind of spice!

Tried making some thing based around "blackened" Cajun stuff a few days ago and instead of putting 2 teaspoons of black pepper, I put in 2.5 tablespoons. It was just a tad too spicy.

Let's put it this way. One of my co workers and I had a Jalapeno Pepper eating contest at work. The rules were we had to chew the entire pepper and show we swallowed it.   We cut it off at seven whole peppers. Another way, if I eat an Indian restaurant and tell them I want it very very spicy they do so... but they look to see me cry and look down trodden when I don't. I was raised on hot peppers. Ever since I was a kid my parents had me try them in bits. They are amazing and wonderful for flavor if you like them. They are good for preventing prostate canecer too, if that helps people like them more. The reality is, I like peppers whether they are hot or not. It is a bit engrained into my system. I will probably die of a horrible stomach cancer because I love spicy food so much. But it is a part of what I like about food. It may have beome an addiction as well, as I can't go a week without something to open my sinuses from the horrible allergies I have. In the long run, everyone likes some spice. It's the heat that kills them.

Depends on the type of spicey, some of them just aren't nice, others are great.

Eating peppers by themselves? Urgh...

Mapo Tofu spicey? Sweet. Curry Spicey? Hell yeah. Spicey fried chicken? Great.

I don't like spicyness for the sake of spicyness. If it doesn't add flavor it doesn't go on my plate. One of my favorite things about the best food in the world (Mexican cuisine) is that chile is mostly used to add flavor and not just to burn your tongue.

Absolutely, unfortunately the Japanese idea of spicy is...very very mild, so there`s an ongoing quest for me to ever get anything spicy, outside of ethnic restaurants.

Now Korean food, that is amazing.

Pretty much this. The point of food is that it should taste great, not just being as spicy as possible.

I'm the same way.  It's rare for me to legitimately consider something as hot.  When I think something has a little kick to it, it's usually inedible for friends and family.

Love the spicy food plus its only way you can eat stuff in some shady street food court around midnight in China and not have digestion problems next day.
