Well as an agnostic neutral (someone who is neutral on whether there is a God) I don't think anyone will have a problem. Just like Atheism is misunderstood in the "real world" religion is misunderstood in the online world. The days of "Blasphamy!" are over. The majority of people who are religious usually believe in a God and the teachings (morals as you may call them) and nothing more. Hell most Christians believe that the Bible (xing out Jesus) is all stories to help you with your day (which only makes sense).

Well just because you have water, doesn't you mean you have life. It's found elsewhere (other than Earth) in the solar system. If they do find life on Mars, then the "what does religion have to say about life on other planets, now that we found some" debate can come up. Water may be necessary for life (but with aliens, who knows), but having water is not sufficient to say there's life. It's a non sequitur fallacy, at least what's said implicitly.

Again, Ad hominem, unless you have some evidence as to the Pope's mental capacity. I think Batman was just giving an example on how a "leader" and figurehead of a sect of a religion was o.k. with it, not "The Pope says this, therefore the whole of Christianity thinks that way" I don't think you have to add a bunch of disclaimers like "The Pope said X, and he only represents part of a sect of Christianity and may or may not represent what the members of the Catholic Church and/or the Christian religion think"
Anyways life on other planets is just speculation.
