So I'm not exactly sure how much of the GiantBomb community follow basketball, but I have been watching very closely this season, and I wanted to see what the rest of you might think.
As of right now, I'm still rooting for my favorite team, the Celtics, but theres so many talented teams in the Playoffs this year, its REALLY a case of anything can happen. The Celtics have a really well rounded team right now, and Rondo tends to dominate with his speed in the paint, with Ray Allen on the perimeter playing a passing game with Paul Pierce. KG is a defensive powerhouse as always, and has really picked it up offensively in the playoffs so far. Our lack of a really great big man is showing, but Jermaine is doing a decent enough job I think.
Memphis has a great squad as well, and I'm a huge fan of Zack Randolph and his ability to change the tempo of the game so quickly. Hopefully we can pull one out against the Heat, as Lebron and Wade are really showing their value.
I'm definitely a Laker hater, but I have to admit that they are a threat. I don't see too many teams who I think will knock them off before the Finals, unless Kobe's ankles both explode. *fingers crossed*
It looks to be a great Playoff run for NBA fans, and I hope Boston can clinch another championship!
So what do you guys think? Any favored teams? Anyone you think is having a particularly great series or maybe an underrated team that might make it all the way?
NBA Playoffs. Who will win?
The Charlotte Hornets. Nobody can stop the combination of Alonzo Mourning, Larry Johnson, and Mugsy Bogues.
" The Charlotte Hornets. Nobody can stop the combination of Alonzo Mourning, Larry Johnson, and Mugsy Bogues. "I know. They're strait ballin' this year.
" @JJWeatherman: Ummmm, the Lakers are down 3-0 to the Mavericks dude.EDIT: ah nevermind misread your post "It sickens me to think that you thought I was a Laker fan. Even if only for a moment. =P
Right now, I'm thinking its the Mavs championship to lose, they are on fire. Westbrook is chucking the Thunder's chances away, the Bulls look like a one man team, the Hawks are the Hawks, the Heat and the Celtics will battle to 7 games, and as much as it hurts for me to say the Lakers are going to be swept (I'm a Lakers fan). So I have Grizz v Mavs and Heat v Bulls in the conference finals, and Mavs v Heat in the finals, with the Mavs winning it all.
@Ashen As much as I agree with most of what you said, I think the Bulls have a chance of going a bit further. They aren't a one man team, they just have one very outstanding player in Derrick Rose. Plus, I'm still going to go ahead and say the Heat are inconsistent and won't be able to close out my Celtics, but thats just me :)
If I had to choose, I'd say Mavs vs Celtics in the Finals, going all 7, with who knows coming out on top.
I knew the Knicks weren't going to win so I'm going with the Bulls, D Rose is an amazing player, and I really like to see the Grizzlies make it to the finals. But I'm really fine with any team as long as its not the Lakers or Heat, hopefully we'll get to see the lakers get swept.
It ain't over till it over. I'm a Lakers and Mavericks fan. But if ever the Mavs lose (if it happens the Lakers will be the first team in NBA history to come back from a 0-3 deficit) I pity the Mavs since they always fall short... I hope they do it this time. Finals: Mavs vs Heat (revenge to Wade) or Mavs Vs Celtics (Revenge to Shaq) :D
I hope for the Lakers, huge Kobe fan since I started playing basketball waaay back when.
But it's looking pretty bad right now, down 3-0 and all haha.
So much laker hate among GBers though, wow
I'm also rooting for Boston, being a Bostonian. Right now things aren't looking too promising with them down 1-2 against the Heat. It's pretty unbelievable how badly the Lakers are getting crushed on the other side. I was predicting a Celtics-Lakers championship series again this year, and now it looks like that won't be happening. Going to keep having faith in Boston right up until the series ends, but I have a feeling it'll end up being Mavericks Vs. Heat for the championship.
If not the Celtics, I'm hoping Bulls vs. Mavs.
