Does Netflix's disc requirement make you wish the PS3 had a disc-changer like your old boom box did? I feel you--and apparently Netflix does, too. At some point before or during October, Netflix plans to roll out a PS3 application that will kill the need for its instant streaming disc, leaving the Wii as the only console this generation that requires a disc with Netflix and you without a desire for a disc-changer.
Netflix CEO Reed Hastings made the announcement himself during a conference call. Here's what he said, according to All Things Digital: "Before our next call in October, we expect to be launching a major new version of our Sony PS3 user interface which doesn't require a disc, and is dynamically updated continuously with the latest Netflix UI improvements."
== TEASER ==Microsoft landed an application for Netflix streaming, or what I'd like to call "All X-Files, all the time," back in November 2008. And while behind the Netflix curve, the PS3 is the exclusive console owner of a Hulu Plus application... until Microsoft unveils its own in 2011. For all that streaming goodness and bluster, neither console has a Dillie cam app, though. Ah, but a boy can dream!
