@ThePickle: As I watched the Raiders game it felt like a blowout (The Steelers beating the Raiders), yet the Pittsburgh defense played terrible and lost the game. Ben threw for all kinds of yards and touchdowns, we dominated in time of possession for most of the game, and yet we lost. For most of the game the Raiders had 0 penalties! (Definitely the whole first half).

Our defense is atrocious. Big Ben is already a good scrambler, but up against our pass rush he looks like Fran fucking Tarkenton.

We got hella fines this week! Ryan Mundy got fined for his hit on DHB, Bill Belichick is getting fined for grabbing the ref after the FG, Kyle Shanahan was fined for unsportsmanlike conduct when dealing with the refs, and Joe Mays will be fined and suspended for his hit on Schaub.

This season I've started to form this picture of what the NFL entity reminds me of. The NFL reminds me of George Lucas in that they, like George, believe they are absolutely right and that everyone else is absolutely wrong.

Getting tired of these replacement refs but it looks like the nfl will reach an agreement (hopefully) soon. Hopefully the real refs will come back and get rid of the incompetence of the replacement refs. Some of them might I add were fired from the Lingerie league for incompetence. At least there are funny things that have come out of these replacement refs.

Exactly. I remember the last two seasons fans were complaining, more than usual, about the incompetency of the refs.  Yes, the real ones.

I knew the replacements were immediately done the moment they cost "America's Team" a win. Had they not screwed that one up, who knows how long we'd have had the replacements stick around. Do not piss off a fanbase that large.

Depends on the fan base. As a Raiders fan, I know we will always complain about the refs. The NFL could use state of the art, mistake free computers to officiate the games and we would still say they have something against us.

Thursday Night Football means the start of week 4:

Okay, the replacements are dead. Raiders fans will still think the refs have it out for them though, Seahawks fans will likely still bring up Super Bowl XL when they have the chance, and the Jacksonville Jaguars will still be irrelevant. All will be right and just in the universe of football. We've got our first byes this week. Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts are both taking the week off.

@ajamafalous: Texans or Falcons?

Watched the end of the Falcons game, and damn that was an amazing play when Ryan hit White deep to set up the game-winning field goal. I honestly think this Falcons team will be the #1 seed in the NFC if they keep this up. Tough loss for Cam Newton and the Panthers considering how close they were to winning, but young QBs learn a lot from tough losses.

I, meanwhile, was watching the Patriots-Bills game. So crazy that the Bills were 21-7 up, then Patriots really just went into beast mode. Quite an achievement for the Patriots offensive line, being without their best player (Mankins) and having two running backs rush for over 100 yards. And yeah, that Bills defence, the one that was so hyped during the offseason, looked real, real bad at times. Not just because Brady was picking them apart; they didn't have anyone covering Gronkowski on one of the Pats last touchdowns, they missed tackles, and Brady had far too much time in the pocket. Unacceptable.

Now watching Saints-Packers. Hope this battle of 0-3 vs. 1-2 lives up to the hype.

0-4 Aints or 1-3 Packers. Either way I win.

Also, 52 points holy shit. I didn't watch a lot of that game, but how many times did the announcers mention Fitzpatrick went to Harvard? It was mentioned at least 3 times during the Jets home opener.

To be honest I only heard it once. It was CBS's 2nd team of Gumbel-Dierdorf; one of the better commentary pairs, but Dierdorf seriously needed a throat lozenge. They did spend a fair bit of time talking about the pronunciation of the name of Pats #3 TE Michael Hoomanawanui.

Now I'm stuck with 3 hours of Fox and Aikman. Ugh.

As a neutral, I love how the Texans are playing right now. They're really looking like a top-class football team on both sides of the ball.

But as a Colts fan, grrr.

@ThePickle: I stand corrected.

Got a nice shootout going in Green Bay. Living up to the hype so far, let's see if the Saints have another meltdown. Also Peyton Manning is having a hell of game in Denver; 27 of 34, 328 yards and 3 touchdowns in three quarters. Just goes to show; his last two performances were more to do with him playing excellent defences in Atlanta and Houston. Against Oakland? Whole different ballgame for #18.

Raiders vs. Broncos: Holy fuck. 37-6. I guess it's truly back to the norm for the NFL because the Raiders played like shit and the refs just piled on. Calling a sack on Palmer when he didn't even have the ball. Not calling pass interference when Moore was tripped. I fell into the same trap I did in the Miami game. We go into the half looking good with a competitive score and end up blowing it. 10-6 at the half, 37-6 at the end. That's right, we didn't score at all in 30 minutes of football. Not as bad as the Jets not scoring in 60 minutes, but still pretty bad. I should have expected it, honestly. We barely get a win against a crippled Steelers team at home and we think we're the best of the AFC West. Take a QB like Peyton, combine it with our pathetic pass rush and we have a blowout of epic proportions.

This'll be the first week I've won in my fantasy league. So thank God for that.

Otherwise, my Lions found their asses being offered to them once again. Which was a bummer.

There were 1-2 questionable interference calls on the Eagles on that last drive; I don't even think the Giants deserved the opportunity to kick that field goal.

The Texans are legit (hopefully) and after the years of being dog shit which was pretty much the David Carr era it feels so good to be on top. Bring on the Jets.

This is old news, but pretty important:

LA be buildin' a football stadium y'all! The NFL confirmed that an existing team would be moving, and that they won't be adding a 33rd team to the league. The Rams, Chargers, and Raiders are all being talked about as being potential movers because they all once played in LA. The Jaguars and Vikings are also being kicked around as possibilities.

The Jaguars make a lot of sense. Sorry to Lagaroth, but dude c'mon. Does Florida really need 3 teams? Then again does California need 5? Rams also make some sense. If there's one thing I'm damn sure of, it's that Missouri doesn't need two teams that don't win.

Well the Jaguars just got new owners who are committed to Jacksonville. So that basically leaves the Rams and Chargers. But I have to imagine the Chargers will move since their current Stadium sucks, aren't getting a new one, and the Rams apparently have a terrible lease on their current deal as well as relatively new owners.

Dallas vs. Chicago: 5 interceptions. 2 pick 6's. 5 takeaways. Dropped passes. Cowboys loss. It's all delicious. Makes up for the disappointing Raiders and Giants losses.

Cincinnati Bengals (3-1)Indianapolis Colts (1-2)New York Jets (2-2)Denver Broncos (2-2)
Pittsburgh Steelers (1-2)Jacksonville Jaguars (1-3)Buffalo Bills (2-2)Oakland Raiders (1-3)
Cleveland Browns (0-4)Tennessee Titans (1-3)Miami Dolphins (1-3)Kansas City Chiefs (1-3)

NFC

Gore with 100 yards, Davis with 100 yards, Smith with 300 (ALMOST had a perfect passer rating).
Niners looked great today. Yes it was against the Bills, but our offense producing like that is huge.
