Hey guys,
Got married a couple of days ago and we just arrived on Kauai for 6 nights, followed by 10 nights on Oahu.
As a Sydney boy, I naturally have no idea of where anything is or what to do, or basically anything at all to do with how things work in this lovely part of the US of A after a life time of being Australian.
So my fellow duders, help us out. Any suggestions on places and activities to do? Restaurants? Large, overgrown areas where we can hunt and kill a man?
Much appreciated guys
On my honeymoon in Hawaii, help a duder out
Well, most everything I know about Hawaii is from the A&E series "Dog the Bounty Hunter." Seems like the thing to do is get hooked on methamphetamines or start smoking Oxycontin. Then you'll have a large balding man with a gorgeous blonde mane saying prayers at your door just before he kicks it in to give you a cigarette. Might also be a woman with disturbingly large breasts, or an almost cute girl with a face that reminds me of a cat.
You didn't do any research before going?
When I was in Maui we talked to some tourist organization dude at our hotel that told us about some cool stuff. I rode a bike down a volcano :O So yeah, go talk to someone like that.
I don't want to talk about the "hunting" on the internet.
If you happen to be a fan of the show LOST you can visit a bunch of places the show was filmed. Though I don't know which islands they're on.
I'm over here on the BIg Island but the North Shore on Oahu is beautiful. The Waikiki beach is the classic but it's really just a very long beach. If you wander around the coast you can find a bunch of nice smaller beaches with less people.
Other than that go have a Loco Moco at some hole in the wall Hawaiian restaurant, drink some coconut milk straight from the shell, and if you are really adventurus you can attempt the stairway to heaven.
Aloha
I live on Oahu I can't really help you with Kauai since I never been out there. I hear there is a lot of fishing & off road stuff you could do though. When you get to Oahu most people go on a trip around the island checking out the sights. I can recomment some food places if you want.
Hmm it's been like 7 years since I went to Kauai but from what I remember it was a bunch beach goings and I can't really remember the names of restaurants I went to.But I can give a few recommendations. I'd recommend going to a Brazilian restaurant. The burritos are kinda amazing and f-ing huge. The one I went to was on the west-side of the island about an hour or so from Lihue which I assume you flew into. It's in a shopping center of sorts. Bubba's burger was also pretty good and I'm pretty sure they're everywhere. As far as attractions, there's the Spouting Horn(?) up on the North side which is pretty cool. There's a canoeing tour close to Lihue. Be aware that can cause fighting between partners. And again I should say this is based on 7 year old info. Hey you might even be lucky to see Pierce Brosnan, my cousin saw him at a bar when we were there. For anything else I say walk around and see what you can discover. That was probably the most fun I had there.
For Kauai
Go to Marks PlaceGet food. Die happy.
Since your from an island I wont warn you about the dangers of the waves in the area, just know that the best swells are at the north end of the island, and will hurt/kill you if you are not a strong swimmer. The south/west shore is safer for swimming and relaxing. Turtle cove on Poipu is also heavy swells and dangerous at times, but the Sea turtles are worth seeing, especially when they come within an arms length of you. The rest of the beach there is easy calm waters. Also if you are at Poipu go to Da Crack it's a great mexican place for very cheap!!
Avoid pissing off the locals, they are my family and friends XD
Sigh, of course we researched it, been planning this for over a year lol.
I'm asking advice from people who know the area, as I'd trust the advice of locals or people who have been here in the past over that of someone trying to sell me something.
(and I'm on here because we got in after a wedding, 10 hours of flying, and 6 more in airports, she earned a sleep...)
Thanks for the answers guys
